The Grim Grotto: A Series of Unfortunate Events #11 | [Lemony Snicket]

The Grim Grotto: A Series of Unfortunate Events #11

Unless you are a slug, a sea anemone, or mildew, you probably prefer not to be damp. You might also prefer not to listen to this audiobook, in which the Baudelaire siblings descend into the depths of despair, underwater. The horrors they encounter are too numerous to list, and include mushrooms, a mechanical monster, a distressing message from a lost friend, and tap dancing.

Publisher's Summary

Dear Listener,

Unless you are a slug, a sea anemone, or mildew, you probably prefer not to be damp. You might also prefer not to listen to this audiobook, in which the Baudelaire siblings descend into the depths of despair, underwater. The horrors they encounter are too numerous to list, and include mushrooms, a mechanical monster, a distressing message from a lost friend, and tap dancing.

As a dedicated author who has pledged to keep recording the depressing story of the Baudelaires, I must continue to delve deep into the cavernous depths of the orphans' lives. You, on the other hand, may delve into some happier audiobook in order to keep your ears and your spirits from being dampened.

With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

"Listen to this series with kids while you can"

Although it has been a few years, my children who are teens still remember these books. We always listened to them on car rides to Cape Cod. Now that they are teens, they sit in isolation each plugged into their own audio device. So if you have children from 6 to 12 and have a long car ride planned or drive with your kids on a regular basis, listen to this series. You should start with book #1, they are a hard listen out of order. At 5 hours in length you can make it pretty far down the highway.

    Story
"More Mysteries found in the Gorgonian Grotto"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Grim Grotto to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version but I'm loving the audio versions.

What other book might you compare The Grim Grotto to and why?

    Other Lemony Snickets, of course.

What does Tim Curry bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Love Mr Curry - he does an excellent array of voices too.

    "the series keeps getting better"

My kids and I listen to 6 to 10 hours of audio books per week and we just loved this one. The suspense combined with the descriptions he uses to explain the larger vocabulary word keep your attention and expand your brain at the same time.

"This series is great fun for young and old"

My husband, my 3 year old and myself -- we listen to these and laugh and giggle and carry on. These books are wonderful. We have them in the written form and the audio and any other form we can get our hands on. Well worth it. We're all hooked. If you listen to the interviews, too, you'll get an even greater kick out of 'em.
