It will take more than magical candy to win this war! Something fishy is going on at the new amusement center in Walnut Hills. The trouble seems linked to the mysterious disappearance of Mozag and John Dar, who have spent their lives policing the magical community. When Nate and his friends are asked to help investigate, they discover kids feverishly playing arcade games in an effort to win enough tickets to redeem one of four stamps: jets, tanks, submarines, and racecars.
Rumor has it that the stamps are definitely worth it. But what do they do? The kids soon discover that the owner of Arcadeland is recruiting members for four different clubs. When each club is filled, he will begin his quest to retrieve a magical talisman of almost unimaginable power. With John Dart and Mozag sidelined, will Nate, Summer, Trevor, Pigeon, and their new friend, Lindy, find a way to save the day? Find out in this sweetest adventure ever!

Tangential, eclectic, avid listener... favorite book is the one currently in ear.
So this book nicely follows Book 1 and if you liked it, you will probably like this too. The plot is more complex, a little more violent magic... but a lot more courage, teamwork and character shown by the group of friends. This time the evil magician is Belinda White's "wants to rule the world" brother... who also uses groups of children from the arcade... given gifts of magic enhancers to accomplish tasks he can't do himself. What kid doesn't want to fly? Parents concerns are this time reduced by Cheese Nachos rather than White Chocolate. I liked the narration better and although I still wasn't as an adult fully engaged... I think the tween population will really enjoy. I like Brandon Mulls creative mind.
Whoever is reading this has to read book two😍😍😍
I liked the characters' voice and themselves. I disliked the girls' voice.

Pigeon, as the quirkiest character, is most fun and interesting, although Lindy with her storied past is also one to watch.
No. He was excellent, very versatile and enjoyable, with all the adult voices. The kids' voices, however, were rather nondescript and I missed Emily Janice Card's version of the 4 key kids and Pigeon in particular.
Shaping up to be a terrific series...my kids and I can't wait for the next book!
I loved the first Candy Shop War and the 2nd did not disappoint. The narrators delivery was amazing and the story, as usual from Brandon Mull, is quite clever and very exciting. I would definitely recommend this, please check out the first book though as there are many references to the characters we met there. I have not listened to the audible editions of Brandon's other books but I have read every one of them and highly recommend them all. Fablehaven is an all time favorite in my house! My son and I have met Brandon several times, he's an amazing writer.
