"A charming reading of a timeless classic." (AudioFile)
"Each of these stories has obviously been told over and over to delighted children, who must throng around their author as the youngsters in the book do around Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle herself." (The Chicago Tribune )
I have been an avid Bibliophile since I learned how to read at 4 years old. I listen to audiobooks every day.
I remember reading this when I was young and have enjoyed sharing it with kids as I've gotten older. Who can resist Mrs. Piggle Wiggle? She's the "fairy godmother" all kids dream of at one time or other. Who would love going to an upside down house where you can hunt for treasure, bake cookies, or do any of the other delightful things the kids do at Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's. Would be great for a family road trip!
enjoyed this book as a child. I am thoroughly enjoying it with my daughter. Narration is superb. If its the characters beautifully.
Mom of 3 and a book lover.
Children story is always enjoyable even for an adult. I enjoy the story while I do my cooking and cleaning, and the story reminds me to be always take it easy on my children. This is my first with the author, I'm looking forward for another venture by the author, and Karen White is always at her best.
I have a 3 year old daughter. We listen to this book in the cat and she won't let me turn the car off until the chapter has finished. she brings up the stories later. we even started reading the 'Mrs. Piggle Wiggle' treasury. this is wonderful Children's literature.
I recently had laryngitis, and this story was scheduled on our read aloud section in our homeschool curriculum. I decided to purchase the audio book and save my voice for reading and math lessons. We enjoyed so much cuddling on the couch and listening to the wonderful performance. The narrator told tales of the naughty children just like aunt.
All three of my children were glued to this story. My six year-old has listened to it four times already.
The way Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle handles childhood problems is creative!
Sometimes when my little people cannot sleep we put an earbud in one ear each and listen together. Even I like to listen over and over
I read these as a child and loved them, and now my 6 year old son loves them too. The narrator is nice and clear with a good voice for the young set, if a bit cloying to me. At first I was a bit apprehensive because the discipline is certainly old fashioned and there is a mention of spanking and the natural consequences (brought to their outrageous logical conclusions) Mrs. Piggle Wiggle uses can seem harsh to modern adult sensibilities, but my son thought the stories were hilarious, especially the Radish Cure, where a child who resists bathing is made to grow radishes in the dirt on her arms. My son has listened to the book three times already!
My four-year-old loves this book, so don't be afraid to try it for the 4-8 set. One warning: written in the 1940s, so spanking is mentioned if you're uber-sensitive about that.
