    "Wonderful Stories"

These heartfelt stories are wonderful to listen to anytime. The soothing nature of the narrator's voice is very calming for my children and was an unexpected benefit! Great purchase!

    "Captured a recalcitrant child's interest"
Would you consider the audio edition of James Herriot's Treasury for Children to be better than the print version?

I love to read print, but Jim Dale does such a fine job of voicing the characters and capturing their emotions that even the voices inside my head as I read silently cannot compete. Furthermore, I listened to these tapes with a dyslexic child who had little patience for the stories otherwise--even with a beautifully illustrated version. She fell in love with them when she heard Jim Dale read them.

What was one of the most memorable moments of James Herriot's Treasury for Children?

The Christmas Cat captured our hearts.

What does Jim Dale bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Atmosphere. He makes the characters and the setting live.

I run/knit/swim/climb/watch Bollywood when not driven to the brink of insanity by homeschooled children who think and talk far too much.

    "Favorite stories made even better!"
Would you consider the audio edition of James Herriot's Treasury for Children to be better than the print version?

Actually, yes. As an American, I can't imagine the Yorkshire accents just from the printed word. Jim Dale's reading is quite excellent, though his James Herriot doesn't sound as Scottish as often described in the books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of James Herriot's Treasury for Children?

    That would be a spoiler.

What about Jim Dale’s performance did you like?

    Timing, accent, voices.
