Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III was a Viking hero - dashing, brave, and ever so clever. But even Viking heroes have to begin somewhere.... Can Hiccup find the antidote to deadly Vorpentitis and fight the Doomfang? Can he brave the axe of Norbert the Nutjob and be the Hero yet again?

I am fascinatingly funny, wonderfully whimsical, and I love to be read to. An audio book,a jug of wine, and thou. "J.K. on the "thou" part."
You don't have to be a kid to enjoy this story. You just have to use your inner child imagination, come on, it's easy! The intonations of David Tennant's voice keeps you in the thick of it. I so love an adventure and that's what awaits you in this tale of "How to cheat a Dragon's curse".
I like kid books on occasion. Don't get into this one thinking its anything like the movie though. So long as you keep the two separate from each other its enjoyable even for adults. Very cute and adorable as well as a lot of fun.
"The Dragons, of course"- my seven year old son who listened to it.
Other than he's also The Doctor and is awesome? Tennant has a very expressive voice and nice accent to listen to. If you have watched Doctor Who during the tenth doctor's era you can almost visualize his facial expressions.
My seven year old son (high functioning autism and adhd) loved listening to this while he played minecraft on his kindle.
This a great series. I purchased the first three books in the series unabridged and with a different narrator. For this book unabridged and with the original narrator wasn't an option. At first I thought my dislike of the narrator was me just not liking change, but as the story progressed my opinion of the narrator didn't. He uses voices that make the characters sound mentally retarded. I still enjoyed the story, but was distracted by the narration.
The story is interesting and the narration fantastic. Great car journey book. We listen to this series in the car on the way to school and we all really enjoy it.
my 5 year old has loved all of the Cressida books in this series
I am an avid listener of audible books with two young daughters. I listen when driving them to school, and myself to work
I continue to be amazed at how much I enjoy this series. This is a great little series that my 5-year old daughter loves and I too am enjoying. It is funny and fun. This installation of the Audible book, unfortunately, is an Abridged version. I don't know why the producers felt it neccesary to abridge what is already a short listen/read/book...but who knows why people in the entertainment industry do anything...they seem all crazy to me. Anyways, I would have prefered to listen to an unabridged version, but since I was unable to find an unabridged version anywhere, on any site...I purchased this one. I can only assume that Gerard Doyle and company are still in the process of recording the rest of the series. Which brings me to my point, while I am a huge fan of David Tennant from Dr. Who...I am afraid his narration simply does not compare to Gerard Doyle's in the line of Unabridged audiobooks of this series. The voices for Stoic the Vast and Gobber, sound more like he has a bad cold than a "huge" Viking hero... David, is an adequate reader...but after listening to Mr. Doyle's masterful renditions..well David is a little flat. I also did not like the musical interludes, but that is a minor issue as only once did David try to speak over the music. I am also left with a burning curiosity to what was cut from the book. Despite all this, I still do recommend the title. It is still a fun little book, and since it is only about $6...I am not overly upset that I may purchase another version when the unabridged audio comes out.
Awesome, Daring and Funny
Harry Potter, Beast Quest, Deltora Quest, Percy Jackson Series. They are all books about kids who go on adventures without their parents.

What a wonderful series to exercise children's imaginations. Cowell develops his characters well and David Tennant does a superb job of narrating the story to children.
"So much fun :-)"
David Tennant does a stellar job bringing the story to life. Even if you are not a kid anymore, Cressida Cowell's tales of Hiccup are so much fun to listen to that it is seriously addictive. Shame though that this is an abridged version.
"superb performance of a good book"
Its a nice story with characters familiar to anyone who has seen How to train your dragon. Although things in the books are a bit different to the movie ...
The entire series.
He brings the characters to life with some fantastic voices that really help draw you into the story. He is easy to listen to and understand.
Yes most definitely.
Would highly recommend this entire series to anyone.
"Captivating story and performance"
Storytelling really brought the book to life. My children loved the story and really got engrossed in the imagery and excitement of the tale.
The Hobbit. Really captivates the imagination and takes you on a fantasy adventure.
David Tennant's accent and expression worked so well with this story.
Laughter and surprise through the story.
If you love the movie and series on television, you will love this audiobook.
"How to Cheat a Dragon's Curse"
Beautifully narrated, thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family, although it is a children's book. We have listened to the whole series so far and eagerly await the next audio installments of the Hairy Hooligans! Pity though that they are abridged.
