"Kept me turning the pages until 4:40 in the morning . . . deep, intriguing, magical . . . one of the most enjoyable fantasies I've read." (Christopher Paolini, best-selling author of Eragon)
"[Mull's] story offers unexpected twists and entertainingly scary creatures," (The New York Times)
Brandon Mull is a master of entertainment. Perfect for the whole family. The narrator was amazing as well. With a different voice for every character and a real talent for acting out the moment, we were all captivated.
The narrator grew on me. At the beginning of book 1 I wondered if his voice would detract, but after listening for a while, I grew to enjoy his performance (his fairy voice still cracks me up).
The story is fun. It is not complicated or unpredictable, but it is very enjoyable! I feel the characters were true to themselves...what I mean by that is that they do not change their nature to miraculously make the only decision possible for victory. They make childish mistakes which sometimes turn out well, and sometimes poorly. The books are not overly involved (I am not the target audience at 25 years old) or complicated, but I enjoyed them despite that.
NO, I liked the story, but the book would have been half to a quarter of the size if they cut out all of the complaining about Seth...
The Beyonders Series is far better.
Fine, he made it worth listening to.
SICK of all of the Complaining about Seth and also sick of SETH and how stupid these people are.... I mean, REALLY???? this story seems to be made up of Every person in a 2000 mile section that has NO Common Sense. EXCEPT the Bad guys, they are Genius'...
We use this book on a drive with our children. After a 13 Hour Drive the boys were asking, can we drive a little longer to finish the book. What else can I say it was awesome.
This is a wonderful series! I have read the books before downloading the audiobook. Brandon Mull is a wonderful author. The storyline is great. The narration is passable. In this particular storyline many of the characters have absurd voices and the narrator is far more adept at these farcical voices than human characters. Kendra's voice is consistently annoying and whinney. She is a focal character and her voice should not be grating. . Seth's voice has improved.
I have read all five books in this series and want my boys to experience these books while we take road trips. We have also listened to all of Harry Potter, Beyonders, HG Wells, Edgar Rice Burroughs, ... We love adventure/ fantasy
This series is a great journey!
Yes, for the most part he does a great job. Unfortunately, he makes Kendra whinney.
Brandon Mull is a great author!
