Publisher's summary

Paul took the paper and read the paragraph indicated, and as he read, the kitchen seemed to perform a slow, revolving movement and come to rest with a grinding jar. It looked like a very nice announcement.

The engagement is announced between Sir Paul Saxon, Bt., elder son of the late Sir Bartholomew Saxon, Bt. and of Lady Saxon, of 16 Lowndes Crescent, S.W. 1 and Helga, only daughter of Madame de Brulais, of 89 Selcourt Street, S.W. 3.

There was only one thing wrong with it. He had never in his life heard of Madam de Brulais or her daughter Helga. Indeed, it was a situation which opened up endless vistas of surprises and complications.

A wonderful romantic cozy novel.

Journey’s Eve by Elizabeth Cadell is beautifully narrated by her great granddaughter, Mandy Everington.
The perfect book for an afternoon of tea in good china and toasted crumpets dripping with butter and honey.
This book is one of the author’s delightful romances with a cozy mystery to solve.

Warm and Funny

A deceptively light story about all sorts of love within families and inspired by families. Relationships abide, develop and branch out to embrace a myriad of young, midlife, and elderly chaacters. I found this a gentle, lovingly told tale well worth reading at least once and revisiting later.
