Thoroughly Entertaining

A great author and narrator in my opinion. I will certainly be looking for more books by Wodehouse (easily done, he is prolific), and Jonathan Waters has a great many voices in him.

Very entertaining!

I always enjoy PG Wodehouse (pronounced “Woodhouse”), and the narrator had a fine variety of voices, but I was taken aback by his errors of pronunciation. I do not believe that these were simply a difference between British and American choices. I am certain that the elite school Eton is not pronounced “Ehton, and I doubt that any English person of the Wodehouse era every said Noblesse Obleyge. Oh, well. Overall, lots of fun.

Wonderful Wodehouse

The only drawback to this delightful recording was some hiccups in the narration. The reader did a great job of getting into the spirit of the thing but the mispronunciations set my teeth on edge. Mostly this occurred with French phrases like "noblesse oblige," "sang froid," etc.

I often buy books based on length, and this 3-volume purchase kept my mind pleasantly occupied through several days of chores, exercising, and such.

Loved it!

I was so entertained by this narrator. He was able to capture the personalities of many different characters and had a consistently clear voice. The story itself is hilarious. I am a new Wodehouse fan. Some swearing and non-P.C. words of the era. It was interesting to see how the "well-off" used to live and see the world.

Rollicking fun

Hilarious hijinks of the idle rich in Wodehousian English, with masterful narration. What a treat for the ears!

Jeeves and Wooster brought to life once more!

I've been a huge fan of P.G. Wodehouse's 'Jeeves' works for many years; both the books as well as the hilarious ITV series starring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. Wishing to revisit the books, I've been putting on my headphones at night and 'Jeevesing' it before bed. Funny thing, even though Jonathan Waters doesn't do their voices at all like Hugh Laurie or Stephen Fry, I still picture their faces the entire time I'm listening. I really like his quick, almost frenetic pacing, which suits the Wooster narrative style well. I've read many of the stories before, and listening to them, particularly with Mr Waters' vocal inflections and pacing, made me pick up things I did not before...not to mention a few more added laugh-out-loud moments! All in all, a smashing good time, which brought Jeeves back to life once again. If you're a fan of the television series, or of Wodehouse in general, I recommend giving this audio adaptation a go. With the scores of Jeeves stories, which Wodehouse wrote over a period of sixty years, I do hope Mr Waters returns to narrate more.

Wonderful to listen too

I didn't know a thing about Jeeves and Wooster until my wife got all exited about finding this audiobook. FYI - we got it free in exchange for an unbiased review.
The stories are engaging, and the narrator amazing. The range of his voice has every character recognizable.

The best distraction from life!

This is such a fun listen. The characters are a hoot and the situations are ridiculous. You will be sure to laugh at the absurdity of it all. Politics, crime, COVID and more- sometimes just having a vacation at your fingertips is the perfect cure. Enjoy!

Narrator

Love Jeeves books. Love Wodehouse. But would it have killed the narrator to read this one through once before voicing it? He's constantly surprised by sentences that dont stop where he thinks they're going to. Or sentences that do stop before he's ready. He's often got the emphasis in the wrong syll-ABB-ell. It's all chopped up in the wrong places. Great voices tho.
