Publisher's summary

Improve Your Social Skills is a comprehensive, practical guide to social skills. It contains easy-to-understand explanations of social interaction, written by a professional social skills coach whose TEDx talk on overcoming the social challenges of Asperger's syndrome has been viewed over 100,000 times

You'll learn how to:

  • Make conversation (and keep conversation flowing smoothly)
  • Read body language (and use your own body language to signal friendliness and confidence)
  • Meet new people (and make friends with them)
  • Tell stories in conversation (that don't bore your audience)
  • Combat shyness and social anxiety (a little courage every day adds up)
  • Date successfully (without manipulation or sneaky tricks)
  • And more!

I'm Dan Wendler, and I wrote this book because I believe everyone deserves a place to belong, and I didn't want poor social skills to hold anyone back from friendship and community - even if they struggle with social skills.

I know firsthand how hard it is to struggle socially. Growing up I was bullied, harassed, and excluded - no matter how hard I tried to fit in. It wasn't until I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome that I put the puzzle pieces together. I realized I struggled socially because I didn't have any social skills. And just like any other skill, social skills can be learned.

The guide you're about to hear is a compilation of the social principles I've learned during my lifetime of personal social skills study, as well as the techniques I developed while offering hundreds of hours of social skills coaching. These principles led me to a life full of close friendship and satisfying connection

I believe that you, too can live a life full to the brim with friendship, connection, and love. I hope that after listening to Improve Your Social Skills, you'll believe it too.

No solutions offered

Inside mostly contains facts and author's point of views in certain situations.

no solutions offered for closed groups. He told us to stay away from closed group. That's all.

No mention of how to speak with your bosses and mean customers.

No tips offered for dating at all. just some lame advices like you need to be committed, spend quality time and control your desire.

Save your credit

None of this is groundbreaking information. Save your money and buy The 5 Second Rule instead.

Mispronounced word detracts from immersion

The reader was repeatedly saying ‘expecially,’ instead of ‘especially,’ and this mispronunciation became increasingly distracting as the book went on.

Some edits needed in performance

The book was great but there were some issues with the performance. They repeated things frequently.

See a specialist instead of reading this book!

There are few nice points in this book but you gonna hear at number of times: "if you feel this way, talk to a specialist".
I bought this book to get answers. I don't need to hear that I need to see someone. Author could add extra chapters to go over those problems instead.

Dry

The book begins with a moving story about the author's experience with social awkwardness. The listener can identify with that. But the rest of the book is procedures meticulously broken down into sections. While helpful, it lacks the effectiveness of the introduction. Strangely, the author does not follow his own advice on story telling. More personal examples from his own life with lessons learned would improve this title.

all he does is say everone eles is stupid, wrong.

i just can't get any further than first few chapters. Hoping he would eventually stop bad bad mouthing the entire rest of the world, and saying he is the only light and has everything worked out. He needs help.

Farse

He steals the research of other authors and social scientists, and passes there information and thesis as his own.
