Publisher's summary

Vickie Stringer's previous novel, Let That Be the Reason, was based on life as she knew it in the shocking underworld of sex and the drug trade. In this follow-up, Stringer once again takes listeners into the dark underbelly of the street scene and presents the difficult and dangerous choices people must make to preserve their families - and their lives.

Vickie Stringer has gained a legion of fans for her portrayal of Pamela, a.k.a. Carmen, a woman who had it all but lost out when the love of her life left her penniless and alone to raise their son. Pamela refuses to remain powerless though. She pulls herself up, becomes a major hustler in the street game, gains independence, and makes big money - but the consequences are more dreadful than she ever imagined.

Imagine This continues the saga of Pamela as she does jail time and has to decide who she really is: Pamela, a woman who, more than anything, loves her son and wants to be there to raise him, or Carmen, the ruthless baller, who does the crime, serves the time, and honors, at any expense, the code of the street.

Narrator is the best

The narrator gave this book life. Sounds like some old and new info mixed together. It’s too modern to believe any of this happened in the 90’s. Early 90s.

So--So (SPOILER ALERT)

This book was just okay for me. After finishing Let That Be The Reason, I wanted another installment that had Chino getting his. Well this is that book but it took way too long for it to happen for me. This story was all over the place. I didn't understand why Delano had to die. I thought Chino's wife's name was Tracy and the reappearance of Carmen at the very end was out of place as it seemed Pammie was no longer in a position to have to SNITCH. Also I didn't like the fact that Young Ty was the one to kill Chino as he would have likely beat most of his charges and got a light sentence, but because he killed Chino his life is ruined. Chino should have been dealt with in the streets where he caused so much chaos and havoc. I liked Queen's character and felt she should have been introduced to listeners earlier in this series. I don't know why she was written into the this book as Chino didn't take heed to any of the knowledge and wisdom she provided. And hearing the game she tried to hip him to would have greatly benefited him and Pammie at the start of their downfall in book one. Last but certainly not least, I really couldn't understand Mikayla's role in trying to kill Pammie. I guess we are to assume she was sent by Dragos but from all we heard about Dragos this seemed too Sloppy and there didn't seem to be a real connection. This book answered a few questions for me but left me with many unanswered questions. I'm just glad to be done with this series.
