Publisher's summary

Grier finally has the one thing she's always wanted: Boaz Pritchard. Too bad her dream boyfriend is keeping her up nights, just not in a sweaty or fun way.

Boaz has dialed down the Southern charm and stopped returning her calls. His job forces him to keep secrets, but his radio silence is cranking up her suspicions. He's a shameless flirt, but he's her shameless flirt...right?

Soon, an attack on Woolworth House leaves her with bigger problems than "he loves me, he loves me not". Vampires are on the prowl, and they aren't the only predators circling. A new threat has emerged, one with blood rights to Grier.

With enemies closing in on all sides, she must choose her allies, and the decision could make or break her...and her heart.

Contains mature themes.

THE ENDING WHAT?!?

No spoilers, but literally the very last sentence of the book 🤯 was NOT expecting it. Can’t wait to start the next in the series!

You know that moment when a series goes from being "okay" to being "wow"? Well, that's what happened in this book.

We are beginning to really get into this world that is being built and the time spent to develop the characters is paying off in major ways. We met Grier Woolworth and in the course of just the few books so far, we have seen unbelievable growth from her as she has been thrown into situations that are truly life or death.

This book was hard. Without going into spoilers, I'll just say that I had a feeling. And sometimes, I hate being right. The odd thing is, even though I knew what was going to happen, it still hit me and I still FELT all the feels when it did happen.

This series is not the type that has each book have a completed story arc. It is actually one major story arc that is developing and unfolding over each book so it makes it hard to go into details about what actually happens in each book.

I will say this - the impact of the series went up in a dramatic way and my investment is now complete. I know that it means that I am going to go through each book in this series without stopping - and I looked it up and there are nine books.....NINE!

So....gotta go. Things are happening and I've got to get back to it.

Didn’t see that coming....

Grier, oh my sweet little necromancer. Who would have thought a trip out of town would start a new whirlwind of chaos and confusion. So many people are after her and for so many reasons, it’s insane.

*curses them all* and don’t get me started on the Prichard’s. I’m ready to set them both on fire and start over.

I think Grier is stronger and a little more stable in her way of thinking and seeing the world around her. She will have to be because I have a feeling the crap storm she just went through is nothing compared to what is coming.

Never a dull moment

Great listen. It’s nice when an author risks characters falling out of favor, or eeek dying. Kept me wondering what would happen next. That’s entertainment. Am looking forward to the next book!

Brilliant!

I have no idea why #2.5 (idk if the # is correct) while yes I throughly enjoyed that aide story but idfk how he Redeemed himself bc in MY eyes he has technically -even If it was his & he loves Adie and I'm happy for them (bc I know them SO well 🙄) I really did enjoy that novel but I expected Boas to not be a total $@it 2 Grier by completely ghosting her-that to me means he is a coward-with no spine!!! so that's my thought on that whole thing.
whwn -in this novel Grier's dream/nightmare that she had about the night Maude died has really got my interest peaked bc i do believe there is another person that was in the room with a dying/dead Maude & Grier! ooooh! we hear a males voice speak only a few words and I'm guessing it ws either a younger Linus or a younger Boaz...ps I giggled when the narrator said how Linus grabbed his blanket off his bed & dragged it behind him.." I giggled bc that's SO Charlie Brown! Linus ALWAYS carried around his blanket even as the little kid would sit down & gracefully play the piano. awe😍 I loved Charlie Brown was I was a little girl!

This novel was yet another fantastic "listen" in an awesome series that just keeps on getting better and better 😀 👏 This truly was an awesome novel & i HIGHLY recommend.
Must press play on the next one in this series!!

TeamLinus!!!

I love the detail in everything in the series. I knew I'd love Linus from the first second. This one keeps you guessing until the end.

Spoiler:************************"*"""*****""
I had a feeling about Boaz. Not the true story but the foreboding feeling of him.

lives up to the name

Even though I figured the plot twist was going to happen (based on the title and plot so far) I'm not ashamed to admit even as a guy I got a little misty-eyed. Wonderful as always and makes you want to dive right into the next book
