Publisher's summary

War comes home to the Sol system when the Drasin track a human ship back to Earth, with devastating consequences. Facing massive force of invading alien ships wielding terrible power, the crew of the NAC spacecraft, their allies, and the people of Earth must mount a desperate effort to stop them. Doomed from the start, but with nowhere to retreat, Captain Eric Weston commits his ship to the defense of the human race even as the human outposts in Sol system fall one by one before the unrelenting Drasin onslaught.

A first-rate military science fiction epic that combines old-school space opera and modern storytelling, Homeworld: Odyssey One, the third installment of the Odyssey One series, continues the exhilarating, hard-pressed action as the Captain Weston faces an overwhelming enemy threatening not just his ship and crew, but the future of Earth as well.

Great story and improved performance

I have enjoyed the story and performance of all the books to this point in the series, but have to say that the voice characterizions in this book have been noticeably improved.

Narrator Issues

Every character the narrator does seems like they're screaming rather than tactical emphasis. There is also very little variation between character voices, inflections and accents. In particular, everyone save one of the foreign planetary peoples has nothing but American accents with the exception of the Bloc forces characters. It's even worse when a battle takes place, the character screaming is even worse.

IMPORTANT!! LISTEN TO THIS ONE!

For some reason they remade this book with a different narrator that isnt David de Vries and it was horrible! The narrator did a terrible job giving unique voices to the characters and engrossing you in the story like David de Vries has in book 1 & 2. Do yourself a favor and buy this one.

Same book, new narrator

I feel like I was scammed, saw a “new” Evan Currie book and bought it. It’s just an old one with new narration. I’ll return it without issue, but I wish it had been made clear in the description.

Top ten worst of my listens

The narrator screams everything.
Earth has only a few ships. You would think the space navy would have the best of the best of the best military personnel. The writer and the narrator makes them sound insubordinate and simple.

There is no character development. I just finished the book and I’m not sure who the main characters were. How sad is that?

I forced my way through this one but it was painful.
