This newer edition of the King James Bible published in 1769 is usually preferred by most that read it over the older 1611 version. This 1769 edition is highly sought after due to being more reader/listener friendly than the 1611 since many typos were fixed.... Historical fiction done well
Having read O'Brien's Master and Commander series several times, it is enjoyable to learn from historical fiction about a previous time period. The author makes a great effort to entertain as well as instruct. In this book, as well as the previous books in the series, I enjoy the author's continual reminder of the financial interests that drive nations to war.
I found a French owned ex-slave living in a French West Indian colony that speaks perfect English quite implausible.

Historical for dates. Not much of a story.
Lousy sea story. Don’t waist your time if you’re looking for an adventure story. Narration was difficult to understand, not because of the nautical terms, but because of the quality of the narration
