Publisher's Summary

The assassination of John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963, continues to inspire interest ranging from well-meaning speculation to bizarre conspiracy theories and controversial filmmaking. But in this landmark audiobook, reissued with a new afterword for the 40th anniversary of the assassination, Gerald Posner examines all of the available evidence and reaches the only possible conclusion: Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.

There was no second gunman on the grassy knoll. The CIA was not involved. And although more than four million pages of documents have been released since Posner first made his case, they have served only to corroborate his findings. Case Closed remains the classic account against which all books about JFK's death must be measured.

"Giving the truth - with some attitude"
Would you listen to Case Closed again? Why?

This book requires more than one hearing. It has details and information that may take a bit to sink in - especially when it contradicts with the conspiracy "proof" that has bombarded us for generations. The author holds nothing back when he goes through the timeline step by step. Even better - and in sharp contrast to many previous authors - he gives the background and/or personal issues of the witnesses. Unlike many previous authors or theorists on the assassination, Posner does not take each witness report like gospel. He discusses how statements have changed over the years or how photographic evidence counters the human remembrance of the day. He points out where the government made mistakes as well. In addition, he shows how the conspiracy theories have had to be adjusted to fit when new technology allows for a better understanding of the physical evidence.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The author's voice comes through in such a clear fashion - particularly when he shows an amused sarcasm at the wilder theories of the conspiracy followers. The narrator does a wonderful job in his portrayal of the author as well.

Have you listened to any of Scott Aiello’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

While I wanted to listen to this book straight through in one sitting, it wasn't feasible. I would gladly take it on a long drive or plane ride - talk about passing the time with something interesting!

    Any additional comments?

If the only background you have of the JFK assassination comes from Oliver Stone's movie JFK? You have to listen to Case Closed.

well documented and researched. It is hard to deny Oswald wasn't the lone assassin after listening to this presentation. Most people cannot fathom a diminutive loser could bring down a person as dynamic as JFK. The sun, the moon and the stars aligned in Dallas that day and created one of the most tragic events in history.

    "Case still closed in 2015!"

Good book. Though most of the book is simply a rewritten version of the warren report itself. The rest includes updates since the warren report.

    "Follow the Evidence"

This is an example of thorough, evidence led journalism. It is a book which starts with the man at the centre of the story, Lee Harvey Oswald. You learn so much about him, it really gives you an idea of his character and his philosophy. The first half of the book is a necessary portrait of man who is otherwise buried and forgotten under a pile of alternative theories regarding the JFK assassination. it is the essential piece of evidence at the heart of the whole tale, which is otherwise miraculously forgotten. It is a wonder that Oliver Stone's movie is the only movie out there! The unadulterated facts are far more fascinating.

If you are looking for answers and would like to know why the well repeated conspiracy stories are really only afloat because of everyone keeps repeating them: listen to this book.

As an aside I had this on my "to read list" for a good couple of years. This book was much more appealing as an audio book as it was handy and gave many hours of interesting listening. I may just read the book too, I certainly will be investigating Mr Posner's other books.

Nothing, he is only as good as what he is given to read

    Boredom

    Any additional comments?

A re hash of the Warren Commission
