Publisher's summary

Chris Lomax swore he’d never return to Saugatuck, but nothing could have prevented him from coming home to the small lakeside town, not once he saw the news about the fire - and Hunter, the only person ever to steal his heart. He must make sure Hunter is okay, and service dog Lucy could lend a helping paw.

Firefighter Hunter Drake never expected to see Chris again. He thought he’d lost his best friend for good when Chris jilted Hunter’s sister at the altar. But right now Hunter needs to focus on his recovery. What he doesn’t understand is why Chris came back - and why he won’t leave.

The two men get to reconnect, but spending so much time together leaves Hunter confused and uncertain, especially when Chris reveals he’s both bi and in love with him. Hunter’s not sure what to do about that last part.

What Chris wants is for Hunter to forgive him.

What Hunter needs is to stop living in denial.

Yeah, as if it was ever going to be that easy...

a beautiful story

Here for You is a beautifully written friends to lovers story about Hunter and Chris. I love how they don't give up on each other and get the second chance they both deserve.
Narrator John Solo does an amazing job. He is definitely one of my favorite narrators.

Here for you

When Chris returns to his hometown he longs to make things right with everyone he wronged. Hunter is top on his list, but can they get past all of the pain and betrayal?

Chris and Hunter’s story is a sweet tale about standing by those that you love. I enjoyed watching the two men reconnect and it was nice to see Chris find a way to help Hunter through his problems. The two men are good together and the love that they feel shines through in everything that they do. Their emotions are strong and seeing them fight for their friendship made for a good listen. Narrator John Solo does a wonderful job of bringing these characters to life and pulling me into the story.

Sweet, slow-burn friends-to-lovers story.

A beautiful, slow-burn friends-to-lovers story that meanders along deceptively mellow and laidback, but in the end will grab at your heart in the best way. Here For You is an enjoyable read that shows us love in its purest form, relying very much on the strong basis of friendship and being there for each other when things are everything but easy, and far less so on passion as a crutch for the story. This one’s low heat, but definitely high on emotion and very sweet.
Chris and Hunter both have regrets when it comes to the other and carry around big secrets. For all that they’ve been lifelong friends, they are in the dark about certain things, and not as different as they imagine. I loved seeing them grow throughout the story. The secondary characters are wonderful, and some of them larger than life. Yes, Cally, I’m talking about you ;-) And of course, I can’t forget to mention Lucy, who is just too adorable, we all want a Lucy in our lives! The parents, on both sides, are refreshingly loving and supportive, and just gave me all the feels.
In between the lines and cushioned by the warmth of family and friends uniting behind Chris and Hunter, there’s an important lesson the author tries to get through, in a subtle and well-balanced way, with regards to trauma and being brave enough to seek help when you need it. No problem is ever solved by running away from it or ignoring it.

Narration: John Solo does a wonderful job with his narration of this sweet story! I love how he manages to channel so many different emotions from quiet joy to outright despair. He does a wide range of voices and captures the essence of every character. I very much enjoyed listening to his performance of Chris and Hunter’s story.

Friends to Enemies to Friends to Lovers

Chris left Saugatuck 5 years ago the night before his wedding. Why? Bc he was in love with his fiance's brother Hunter. Best Friends since childhood Hunter is devastated when Chris leaves. When a fire injuries Hunter after he saves a boy from a fire Chris takes time off his dog training job to come make sure he's okay and to make amends with everyone including his parents. He's shocked when his parents already guessed his reasons for leaving and even more so when his ex-fiancee welcomes him with open arms and has defended Chris to the town in his absence. The only one who doesn't want to accept Chris back? Hunter. Through some chances of fate Chris winds up staying with Hunter and over a week they become closer again but not everything is great for Hunter who Chris suspects has PTSD but Hunter refuses to acknowledge it.

I really love this book. It's not a hot and steamy book. It's angsty and has some drama between Chris and Hunter. it's forgiveness, heart breaking, healing, and discovery. All while Chris's dog Lucy makes sure all the humans stay in check.

Second Chance Love Story Beautifully Done

This story of a second chance romance is deftly handled by the author, K.C. Wells and was brought to life by narrator John Solo. This is the first book narrated by Mr. Solo that I have had the pleasure of listening to. He has a wonderful gift as he expresses the emotions of the characters that run the gamut from depressed loner to joyful declaration of love. I particularly like how the book's author did not lean on stereotypes. The jilted bride was not a vindictive screaming witch and the main character's parents didn't call him hateful names and kick him out. The book is actually quite lyrical as it flows. Chris, our main protagonist, is a young man struggling to be true to himself and win the love of his life. Hunter, also a young man of extraordinary appeal, is at a low point in his life and unsure about trusting Chris. I super recommend this book and I commend the production but especially want you to hear this story as presented by Mr. Solo It is an amazing blend of author and narrator not to be missed.

This is such a beautiful story and I just absolutely love this one. Chris and Hunter's story is an amazing slow burn second chance at love romance. This one pulled on my heartstrings and I just absolutely love listening to it. Then John Solo took this story and made love it more. He took every emotions and made me feel everything that these characters were feeling. I just couldn't get enough and I love it.

Lovely simple love story

Sometimes, amongst all the angst these days, a simple love story is just what I’m looking for. And at the heart of this book lies a love story.

Chris left his bride Calleigh at the alter, abandoning his life and moving away without giving anyone a forwarding address. His reason? Although he cared for Calleigh, he was in love with her brother. Knowing he would see Hunter day after day but not be able to have him was too much to bear, so he left.

Five years later, tragedy strikes Hunter and Chris feels compelled to return. He brings his dog Lucy. Chris is a service dog trainer and he fell in love with Lucy so she never formally graduated. But she’s as empathetic and smart as any working dog, and she goes to work on Hunter. Maybe if Chris can’t break down Hunter’s walls, Lucy might be able to.

Chris wants Hunter to forgive him and Hunter wants Chris to leave him alone. Plenty of conflict there. And although both men are stubborn, cracks in the walls appear. There are heavier themes in this book but they are handled brilliantly, as I would expect Ms. Wells to do. Her books always deliver an emotional story with a deft touch and this book is no exception.

John Solo narrates many of Ms. Wells’ books and I’m so pleased because he does a great job of bringing these characters to life. So if you’re looking for a simple and true love story, this just might be the book for you.

love K C Wells books.

John Solo does an excellent job of bringing Chris and Hunters second chance romance to life. Two men finding love after an injury to Hunter left the men reconnecting after an angry separation. Slow burn and mistaken reasons have kept them apart and Hunter felt abandoned. So glad they reconnected and found their HEA.
