Publisher's summary

From the bestselling author of One Small Sacrifice comes a suspenseful thriller about a dead woman who predicted her own murder - and the sister who won’t let the truth be buried.

When her beloved sister Caroline dies suddenly, Deirdre is heartbroken. However, her sorrow turns to bone-chilling confusion when she receives a message Caroline sent days earlier warning that her death would be no accident. Long used to being a pariah to her family, Deirdre covers her tattoos and heads to Manhattan for her sister’s funeral.

The message claimed Caroline’s husband, Theo, killed his first wife and got away with it. Reeling from the news, Deirdre confronts Theo on the way to the cemetery, and he reveals both his temper and his suspicion that Deirdre’s “perfect” sister was having an affair.

Paranoid and armed with just enough information to make her dangerous, Deirdre digs into the disturbing secrets buried with Caroline. But as she gets closer to the truth, she realizes that her own life may be at risk...and that there may be more than one killer in the family.

One messed up family!

As one that is still upholding a loved one's dying wish 3 years later I know in real life how strong those last promises are and what lengths you will go and sacrifices you will make to meet them. However, I didn't have the murder, love twist, and all the other issues going on this story throws at our grieving sister in her pursuit looking for her sister's murderer! A well paced book for an afternoon listen as you get your laundry done, kitchen cleaned, household cleaning in, and some yardwork done. 👍 I recommend this book. A quick easy, and entertaining book.

Interesting story

So many twists and a couple twisted people. The story kept my attention since it was hard to tell me good people from the bad. I thought the narration was good, too.

Twisted

I definitely enjoyed the story of this book. It kept me questioning the whole time. I played it on 1.2x because the narrating was a little slow for me. At that I had no issues.

Terrific Read

Loved the book! The narrative was great. You can tell each character apart. I'll read, or rather listen, to more of Hillary Davidson's book.

Good story

Story was good, same with the reading of story, I might recommend it, if I knew someone that really loved this style. It wasn't a "can't stop reading" type of book, but it also wasn't a "can't wait to get this over either" type

Who done it

Loved this book it kept me interested from the beginning to the twisted from the beginning to the end And every time I thought I knew that the killer was I was wrong. Just about the time I really Like a person and it looked like they could be the killer, So I went back-and-forth liking them then hating them them and not sure how I should feel how I should feel because I still couldn't Figure out Have you done it. Well written and readers were excellent.

Her Last Breath

I went back and forth on this one. Diedre receives an email after her sister, Caroline, dies telling her if she does receive the email that her death is not an accident that her husband, Theo, killed her. At the funeral she confronts Theo and he confronts right back. Now we are on race to figure out the twists and turns of this crazy family. This is an over the top eye roll.

Just ok

I think this book would have been better with a different female narrator. She makes everything she reads sound imperative and urgent. Her voice is good but her manner of speech is just so distracting, you hear her and not the story. The male narrator is very good, saved the book for me. Overall the storyline is ok, a bit convoluted but ok. I’d save the credit.
