Publisher's summary

Damien’s new streaming career is in tatters.

With his play style now known to all and Aetherius’ older brother, Magnitude, gaining a stranglehold on high-level content, Damien struggles to maintain his relevance in the ever-changing world of Saga Online.

In order to regain his notoriety and fight back against Magnitude’s growing power, Damien must undertake a quest that is far beyond his level. If he succeeds, his occultist character will be changed forever.

Meanwhile Lillian has a mission of her own: to find a legendary sword that has the potential to finally bring Magnitude down.

One thing’s for sure, it’s gonna be hell.

I enjoyed this so much, and the end hints of another, I will just have to wait and see when it will come.

Spicy memes, Good character growth, Engaging story

It is hard to say whether I preferred this book over the first one or not. The Occultists worked well as a standalone book, but it was nice to get back to the world nonetheless.

Overall the story picked up nicely after the first issue, and moved throughout the book well. Especially I enjoyed seeing the character growth that Andrew had. Turning him from the big bad evil guy of the first book into a well-rounded character with his own perspective was a difficult job, which the author nailed. It was easy to go from hating him to understanding his motivations and in the end, forgiving him for the things he pulled off in the Occultist.

It would've been 5 star review all around, but there were a couple of things I didn't like.
First one was the overabundance of memes. It was a nice touch to add some humor into the book, especially after the more serious first book, but this time it went just a bit overboard. You just couldn't escape them. But on the other hand they were mostly cleverly written in and didn't seem to be too out of place, so it was fun to catch them. Not a big issue in of it's own, but still something I feel was worth mentioning.

The second point was the characters themselves.. I already touched Andrew briefly, but I need to talk about our other two main characters. The thing that frustrated me to no end was the constant bickering between Lilian and Damien. It is a bit harsh to deduct points, even from this, because I completely understand where both of the characters were coming from in their arguments and even more so, I have to remember that they are still teenagers, and characters in a book without access to the information I have as a reader/listener. So It was understandable why they were arguing, but the problem I had is that there was just a bit too much of it in the end.

But still. Overall this was a very well written sequel to a book I didn't expect a sequel for, and I'm looking forward the third installment!

okay book

First off this was way more intense then the first book on the personal level stuff. Liliean is forced to be cold to create character progression that doesn't seem right and is forced. The author tried to hard to make her "the" female gamer voice instead of just a gamer. If Liliean was a guy no one would like her or follow her. The author creates situations where she is abusive. It isn't called out.

There is a lot of futurist research put into this book. The whole thing with the self driving cars is real science and design. The gravity mechanics were pretty good as well.

The epilogue references Smash Bros players. Each name is a Smash Bros Champ.

I will say that this is the best written and character accurate Lucifer I've read in non-christian fiction. Good job on that.

Overall the story moved in an okay direction. The author tried his best to create tension without the moms health. It didn't go smooth but it wasn't bad.
The wall thing is something I can see why people would not like in the story.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Let me start this off with saying that I enjoyed this book. its got good action, a meaty plot and it expands its pov in interesting ways. But I do have a point I want to talk about a bit.

Yo, why is everyone so mean?! The POV characters in this book are all very aggressive/defensive personalities that meld together about as well as peanut butter and anthrax. They fight all the time, they never apologize, they say INTENSELY insulting things to each other and the one character the books work to build sympathy for blames everybody else for his problems.

This series is dying in the desert for a character that you would actually want to spend time with and I hope the author adds that in the future.

a 2 star performance review

For "leroy jenkins" said in all lower case monotone. Plenty of meme material and the narrator failed to deliver.
