Publisher's summary

Though most Christians refrain from predicting exactly when our world will end, many believe that when Earth's finale does arrive, it will be a catastrophe. They expect that before Christ comes back to reclaim his own, Satan will escape his chains and return to wreak havoc on our planet. Details vary, but the general assumption is the same: Things will get much, much worse before they get better. But is this really what the Bible teaches?

Leaving aside the theological terms that often confuse and muddle this question, Douglas Wilson instead explains eschatology as the end of the greatest story in the world - the story of mankind. He turns our attention back to the stories and prophecies of Scripture and argues for "hopeful optimism": the belief that God will be true to his promises, that his will shall be done on Earth as it is in heaven, and that the peace and good will we sing about at Christmas will one day be a reality here on Earth.

Wow! Just Wow!

This little book is a concise and yet thorough presentation of the Post Millennial and Preterists view of Escatology. Read it with a "willing suspension of disbelief", and you will be enlightened.

Worth the read.

I have always had a difficult time embracing futurism which prevailed in most churches I have attended. The most recent was historicist. But I couldn’t quite embrace that either. Too much Scripture seemed to be pointing to a catastrophic and earth changing event in the first century. Glad I finally stumbled across preterist material. Helps me to know I am not alone in what I see in the scriptures. I gave 4 stars only because I am not in full agreement with Doug Wilson on all points. But still would highly recommend this book and other videos by him on eschatology. Love his optimism and focus on the gospel.

Being new to the post millennial view this held great insight and excellent explanation to this side of the table! Gives a LOT to think and pray about.

Heaven is intermediate

Informative read/listen. The post-mil position is underrepresented in our day and time. I wish the author would have read for the audio.
