Patronizing barely touches this delivery

Insulting to grown women who could benefit if they could stand to listen to one more “old girl” and the assumption seems to be heterosexual appreciation is the only goal for “getting out there and doing it” hey maybe I’ll die if I don’t follow the ideas and a lot of people could be much better off if they exercised regularly throughout their lives but I was familiar with that concept before and so this is not groundbreaking stuff here.

Better than the original

I listened to this book before recommending it to my wife and found that it's actually better than YNY. Simpler and easier to understand but still, somehow more thorough... Awesome book and one that I will review at least once a year to make sure that I haven't strayed from the path.

Soooo true!

A MUST READ!!!
We've become a society of lazy and overindulge people. That book throws the truth in our faces. We have to get real and go on with the program.
Personally, every time I start exercising again , after a long period of inactivity, I can't believe how fast I get my energy back And think how dumb it was to stop....

Why this Narrator?

The information in this book is great. However, I wish I had purchased a hard copy. The narrator is terrible. Yes, the material is a bit patronizing and their idea of how women live their lives seems to be taken out of some 50's tv show; but if a narrator is good they will help smooth over the rough stuff in the material so you can focus on the important aspects. This narrator only exacerbates the negative and annoying parts of the book. I've listened to the original Younger Next Year and that narrator was so much better.

A Life Changing Book!

Where does Younger Next Year for Women rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top.

What about Norman Dietz and Richard Harries ’s performance did you like?

They read as if they were truly talking to you.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book motivated me to change my life. It probably saved my life. It did make me laugh. It is packed full of information. Easy to understand and follow.

Any additional comments?

This, or the men's version of this book, is a must read for EVERYONE! This one was written for women but I'd encourage men to listen to it too. And visuversa. I hope they write one geared toward young adults too before they go over the waterfall

Outstanding Guide for Life

This book helps you learn about exercise, fitness, diet, and whole body improvement. It is motivating and interesting. The combination of medical reasoning/logic and real life stories lends credibility to the information contained in it. I have listened to this entire book twice and I am sure I will listen to it many more times. Anytime I start to loose motivation to keep exercising or to start eating "crap" as it is so eloquently described in this book, I replay the book during my commute for the week and I am re-energized to stay on my exercise and diet routine. The narrators for this book are fantastic! I am glad the authors decided to have two narrators making it very easy to know when the text was coming from Chris, the antidotal retired lawyer, or Henry, the medical doctor. The Darwinian references are something you will need to take with the filter by which you view your religious beliefs. Don't pass this book up because of the evolution aspect - the other content is worth every penny the book costs and then some! I look and feel 10 years younger than I did last year.

Just what I needed!

A friend recommended the book, and I found the "women's" version almost by accident. Pushing 50 and tired of feeling "old," I know I need to make a change, and have tried several over the last couple years. I just couldn't stick with them, because most "programs" advocate activity every other day. For me, one day off became two, then three and soon, "what's the point?" I love the framework offered. It allows tremendous flexibility in WHAT I do, so long as I do it 6 days a week.

The medical facts are presented in English, not med-speak. And the anecdotes are fun! The book is eye opening without being threatening. It is easy to take Chris' admonitions as the recommendations of a trusted friend.

I've even enlisted my husband to grow younger with me. I've only walked and bicycled so far, but I already feel more energetic. Money well spent.

Annoying

I’m sure there’s some good information in there somewhere, but the narrator is annoying, tells way too many superfluous stories about his antics and is a GUY! A book for women ought to be read by a woman. Right? From a woman’s perspective. Talking to women isn’t the same as being one. Sorry.
