I like how the book explains how our body works and how what we eat can effects us!!! Signs of what hormones that aren't working correctly and how we can fix it....I recommend to all my friends and family. I have on audible as well as digital ebook.
Though I bought the hard copy of this book for reference, it is really worth listening to it more than once to reinforce the importance of what is being said. Dr. Aziz makes more sense than any other diet book out there. It really isn't a diet book as much as it is a wake up call to the food industry and the harmful products and concepts that the FDA seem to be ignoring. The biggest lesson here is to buy organic because genetically engineered food is absolutely toxic. You might be able to eat it for years, and then one day your body says, "eat that junk one more time and you will get uncontrollable hives, swelling, rashes and joint aches" (i.e. my body will no longer tolerate any form of corn, thank you Monsanto
:-b) One pound of pesticides consumed is one pound too many. Since starting the shift to the "perfect 10", the elimination of simple sugars has made fruit taste like candy. Satiety is truly enhanced by real, whole fat foods. I will miss some things like ice cream (that I don't make) and pop corn at the theatre, but I will not miss the hundreds of dollars spent on allergy testing, ointments and medications counteracting the ill affects of "fake food".
Worth the buy, if not for hormone balance, but for the insight into the "low fat" BS out there which I discovered 10 years ago through Dr. Perricone's book. I ate salmon 3x a week for 6 months and anti-aged by 10 years. Who would have guessed that genetically engineered food would be the next enemy?
The stories were inspiring, but the best part for me was the detailed dosages of supplements and what the goal of taking them was about.
This book is well written and narrated (narrator isnt at all annoying like so many are!) but Im not convinced of the utility of the format as I find myself wishing that I had a papercopy, to write notes in! It has lots of useful common sense info contained within that requires note-taking to summarise (kind of defeats the purpose of an audio book, in my opinion).....not that I want to detract from the content of the book - it is GOOD. I have pre-ordered a paperback so that I can flick through it and note make whilst doing so but until the book is published, the audio book is a useful overview of the subject matter.
You cannot move easily from one chapter to another within the audio book so it is difficult to navigate around the audiobook and at nearly 10 hours long - that's a lot of rewinding and skipping around which would be a lot easier in a paper copy.
