Publisher's Summary

Do you have back, neck, or shoulder pain that keeps recurring or won't go away? Do you have to "baby" your back? Does back pain keep you from living a full life? If so, you may be suffering from TMS - (Tension Myositis Syndrome) - and you don't have to take it anymore!

Dr. John E. Sarno, author of the revolutionary book Mind Over Back Pain, is a medical pioneer whose program has helped patients overcome their back conditions- without drugs or dangerous surgery. Now, using his latest research into TMS, Dr. Sarno goes one step further. After identifying stress and other psychological factors in back pain, he demonstrates how many of his patients have then gone on to heal themselves without exercise or other physical therapy.

Discover why self-motivated and successful people are prone to TMS, how anxiety and repressed anger trigger muscle spasms, how people "train themselves" to experience back pain, and how you may get relief from back pain within two to six weeks by recognizing TMS and its causes.

    "Worked for me!"

This book eased my back pain within one week. I had the pain for over 8 months. Tried acupuncture, chiropractor, physical therapy and massage to no avail.

    "No techniques are discussed"

I've been having severe back pain for six months now and have been unable to work more than a couple hours at a time. I've been through all the usual therapies with no relief so I decided to give this book a try. The concept is intriguing so I gave it two stars but the book does not share any techniques to resolve the pain. I have just purchased his other book "The Mind Body Prescription" and I really hope it will describe the program there.

    "Bunk!"

The many positive reviews, combined with a "20-20" TV-journalism piece praising the doc., compelled me to try this in spite of my skepticism and my friends' bemusement, but my moderate lumbar stenosis has not dissipated in light of the doctor's claims that back pain is caused by the repression of rage. Maybe this is true for some people with milder symptoms, but it didn't work for me.

"The best book I ever read!"
Would you listen to Healing Back Pain again? Why?

I have listened to it and Dr Sarno's other 2 books all day long for 5 weeks ago. It has healed my back pain and more. It also healed my husband's back pain and several friends of mine who got the book after I told them about it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Healing Back Pain?

    Loved it all equally.

Have you listened to any of John E. Sarno’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to all 3, but I think his last one The Divided Mind was my favorite.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Life Is Full of Pain

    Any additional comments?

Please thank Dr. Sarno for saving my life!

    "Fantastic book"
Would you listen to Healing Back Pain again? Why?

I've listened to it lots of times. It was easy to listen to, with the author having a great reading voice and very well structured. Complicated process's were explained in a very detailed way and I could understand the concepts that were being presented properly.

Most importantly the book has helped me to heal my back pain and tension heartaches. I would recommend this to anyone.

"The only book you'll ever need to heal back pain"

I was a little skeptical when I first started listening to this book, as I had suffered from back pain (fibromyalgia) for many years and tried countless treatments. As I listened to Dr. John Sarno's narration, I identified with everything he said. It was like he was describing me ??? my personality, my pain, and my pattern of symptoms and associated treatments. I threw all the treatments in the bin, said goodbye to my physiotherapist, and gradually got better within months.

Listen to Dr. Sarno, listen to your inner self, and you WILL recover from back pain without anything else but this book and a lot of patience. Good luck.

    "Half way there!"

It was interesting... However it was more about diagnosing you with this issue ... Then no real help with the actual issue.. When the book had finished I felt like 'okay well I probably do have this tms thing.. But now what?' .. Is there a follow on?
