Publisher's summary

Stella Ricci is bored. Her overprotective family barely let her out of their sight, despite the fact she’s a grown woman. Yes, she loves her job at her family’s café, and she’s the best barista in the entire Monterey Peninsula, but is that enough? She’s thinking no. But what else can she do?

Enter Carter Abbott. Burnt out after the never-ending grind of selling high-end real estate in Los Angeles, he’s returned home, unsure of what to do next. He needs someplace to crash temporarily until he gets back on his feet.

It’s easy for Stella to suggest Carter move in. Temporarily of course. It’ll give her someone to talk to. The only problem? That one night stand Stella and Carter had about a year ago. They never talked about it. They still don’t really talk about it. Despite the fact that the old chemistry has come back full force. Living together has made that obvious. Should they admit that one night wasn’t enough? Or will dating each other turn into an epic fail? Only one way to find out....

Incredible book and author!!!

Monica Murphy has become one of my favorite authors!!! I was waiting on the book where Stella was the main character and this book did not disappoint. I like to break up my books and listen to them over a stretch of time but, with this book I could not stop listening. I would highly recommend!!!

Pretty racy, but much more

Having been raised in the 1950’s and 1960’s, the sex scenes sometimes embarrass me, but the story line is well done though frustrating, funny and heartbreaking. If you have ever been rejected, you may feel that pain again. Just hang on. There is plenty of joy to to resuscitate your soul. A good read.

Easy Listen

This one wasn't the best Monica Murphy of the series, I found the previous to be funnier. Still an easy read if you are looking for something lite to read. I do like the characters, I think Grace (grandmother) is probably the most amusing and loveable character.

From hate to love

This book cracked me up. It had a good sense of humor and passion. There's nothing like a good story, and this book was it.

Cute but irritating lol *spoilers*

I dunno what it was about this one but it kinda got under my skin, especially towards the beginning. I still liked it a lot and I loved the narrators' performances. Maybe it was the way Stella acted about the situationship happening and how she refused to tell her BFF. Or maybe it was Carter and the way he seems to just give up so easily multiple times on their situationship. I'm glad things turned out alright in the end but dang it was frustrating in the middle.

Good storyline, but...

Female narrator sounds like she's straining while talking and being recorded on an old tape recorder. Keeps you from really immersing yourself into a good story. Male narrator was great...life like. Maybe if the female narrator had a better quality recorder it probably would have been a better performance.

Cute Story - Choppy Reading

I like the story, however the woman who read for Stella was very choppy and at times made it difficult to follow along.

Good book overall

I liked the story of Stella & Carter. Overall, good book. Although, Stella’s voice was a bit too “breathy” for me. Not the whole duration of the book, just closer to the end. I did enjoy it though.
