BOOK 3 IN THE IRON DRUID CHRONICLES

Thor, the Norse god of thunder, is worse than a blowhard and a bully - he’s ruined countless lives and killed scores of innocents. After centuries, Viking vampire Leif Helgarson is ready to get his vengeance, and he’s asked his friend Atticus O’Sullivan, the last of the Druids, to help take down this Norse nightmare.

One survival strategy has worked for Atticus for more than two thousand years: stay away from the guy with the lightning bolts. But things are heating up in Atticus’s home base of Tempe, Arizona. There’s a vampire turf war brewing, and Russian demon hunters who call themselves the Hammers of God are running rampant. Despite multiple warnings and portents of dire consequences, Atticus and Leif journey to the Norse plain of Asgard, where they team up with a werewolf, a sorcerer, and an army of frost giants for an epic showdown against vicious Valkyries, angry gods, and the hammer-wielding Thunder Thug himself.

Each book manages to be better than the last

Would you listen to Hammered again? Why?

Yes, I undoubtedly will in a few months. It was one of my first audiobooks, but certainly the best. The book itself is amazing, and the narrator does it full justice.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hammered?

A toss-up between characters telling stories around a campfire and the inevitable climax.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book definitely made me laugh, and often. I quickly realized that I couldn't listen to it on headphones at work, because it distracted my coworkers when I cracked up every few minutes. It managed a few moments of pathos as well, though they didn't stick with me the way the humorous scenes did.

Kevin hammered it home!

What made the experience of listening to Hammered the most enjoyable?

So many things.... the male bonding of the characters-figuratively and literally. Oberons comic relief and antics. I wish Atticus was a friend of mine-love him!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hammered?

I can't get the giant squirell out of my head. I loved how Atticus got his right ear back.

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Well, for one- he is very good at pronouncing words that I think I would have difficulty saying. He brings each character to life with the accents, that I probably would not hear in my head if I just read them. I love how he gives voice to Oberon and the squirel.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

I am hooked. I hope Kevin is a fast writer!

Motley Crew!

Atticus O???Sullivan is back and leading a motley crew of vengeance to command capital justice from Thor, the thunder god. This installment is darker and does not have the same levity as the other volumes in this series. But don't worry. It is still action packed. Throughout this story, Thor is portrayed as an immature, cruel, and indifferent bully. His crimes against each crew member are described, and an epic battle is fought. Even without Oberon and the window McDonough, this book is a solid addition to the Iron Druid Chronicles, and Luke Daniels is still excellent!

THE ONE TO PUT YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT!

THIS, the third in the series is the one that put me into such heart racing excitement that I literally could not wait for the fourth book...and I only had a few weeks to it's release! By the time I got here, Atticus and Oberon were part of my permanent library, this story I will listen to over and over. Everyone should have the audible version with this narrator, he's as excellent as the story is! Five stars to the author and the narrator both, you will agree once you listen. Atticus and Oberon have a knack for getting into and out of trouble with ease all the while entertaining us at the same time!

Yes it's good, but could have been better.

This book has one major advantage over "Hexed", it does not feel as rushed as "Hexed" did. The story is taken at a lighter pace which really does the book a great service. However some chapters in this book make me question the motives of some of the people seeking revenge, they seem to be a bit underwhelming to warrant a 1000 year grudge. Also some of the decisions made while in battle makes me question the intellect of our 2100 year old druid sometimes. But apart from that, it is still leaps ahead of many other fantasy books, and the overall humour and performance of Luke Daniels made this audiobook a real please to listen to.

Hearne/Daniels the next Harper/Ronconi

Further adventures of the Iron Druid are not disappointing like some sequels can be. The stories are good, but mix in the telepathic dog's one liners and you turn an average story into a very funny afternoon. Mr. Daniels narration is wonderful.

AWESOME!!!

Would you listen to Hammered again? Why?

I've already listened to it twice.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Hammered?

I love Oberon's nonfat 5 cheese bacon latte monologue

What about Luke Daniels’s performance did you like?

He is a fantasic narrator. Individual voices, accuate accents, nuf said.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Thor is a giant asshat and deserves to die!

Any additional comments?

The Iron Druid series is one of the best urban fantasies ever. Kevin Hearne is second only to Jim Butcher.
