Publisher's summary

I’m the only Dixon brother to step up when our family crumbled.
When I took over the ranch, I lost everything, career included.
My heart hadn’t been in it anyway. It couldn’t. A girl stole it a dozen years ago when she left, dreaming of a world outside our small town.

Now she’s back.
Different hair. New style. Kid clutching her hand.
Wrecked by the man who put the ring on her finger.

Not a trace of the Madison Black I knew.
A downhome girl with the sweetest smile and drawl.
The little rebel who would sneak out to my truck in the middle of the night.

But with one conversation, that girl starts to reappear.
One kiss, the years apart fade away.
One night, I vow to never let her go again.

Except she’s not mine to keep, and the glaring reminder why just arrived in town.

Angst !!

Talk about angst overload! This whole series (so far) has been a love/hate situation for me since all the Dixon men are so intense and have so many issues. In the first two installations of this series, Hunter is portrayed as the strong, silent, former military hardass brother who sacrificed his own future to take over the Dixon ranch, all the while pining for his high school sweetheart who supposedly dumped him for the big city. You start this story out feeling sympathy for all his pain. But he's totally NOT the hardass you thought he was -- turns out, he's indecisive and emotional at times so that makes him more human. All three H/2h's are depicted as pretty selfish individuals and all three run away every time something happens that they just "can't deal with". Particularly Madison. So many angsty moments that it's almost TOO much -- wears you out emotionally to read/listen. Also, without spoiling the story, let me just say this: Hunter SAYS he is "in love" with both women--something I believe could not happen--so he's selfishly keeping them both hanging. So....which one does he choose?

IMHO -- well done! You had me angry with all three main characters with all kinds of emotions flying everywhere! Hoping there's more to come in this series. Bo's story---ya can't leave us hanging like this!

Narrators - well, what can you say about these two pros? There's enough angst for Erin Mallon's breathy, angsty voice (even though she calmed the breathiness down a little in this series. It can be distracting to hear the "uh" at the end of every word). And she should probably work on her Spanish a bit. Jason Clarke---oh, that man! He is the master. His voice is deep and sexy --switching effortless from that deep, sexy male to soften for the females.

Love it. As with all. Was really heartbroken for Bo and Izzy. Would love to read Izzy finding her everything.

Drawn out

The storyline is good but it’s so drawn out had to skip chapters 41 chapters too long . JC always my favorite narrator. Erin again with the drawn out words.

This one was hard

I’ve been making my way through this series and for the most part it’s been good. I’m not a huge fan of the the talking in parables thing but I get it, every author has their thing but this one was really hard for me to wrap my head around. Cheating is a huge thing to throw in at the 13th hour after these people have laid their souls bare about how much they love each other and then it became this huge thing just for it not to matter in the blink of an eye. Im sorry but if I found out the love of my life slept with my sibling I would be SICK. Accident or not I couldn’t see a way back from that. I understand that cheating does happen but this wasn’t a random drunken stranger, this was soulmate and sibling. How do you get past that and have a normal relationship with knowing all of that? I felt like it needed more exploration but maybe that’s just me.

❤️

Absolutely love this series. Wish they would have more flashbacks of how everyone is part of the family though. Kind of lose track sometimes.

Fan

I think this was best book so far. The first two was good but this added a more to the suspense. One on to the next book.
The narrators are good.

PFFT! So unrealistic ..

Hard to get through. I almost stopped several times, and Isabelle should have got the guy. The liar won.. and that never works for me

Hunter

Throughly enjoying the Dixon brother’s love stories and their trials and tribulations. The author wrote the story with so much compassion and the narrators did an excellent job conveying every emotion, angst, and love. With Hunter being in love with Madison and loving Issy he was trying to hold onto both which was selfish and cruel. Great story and worth a credit.

Long Story

I had already listened to two of the brother’s stories so I was pretty sure what to expect. The story was good but too much drama so I ended up skipping ahead. If there is a book about the fourth brother I will probably list to it bit it is going to be a while. Really enjoy listening to Jason Clarke, great voice.
