Publisher's summary

Glorious Boy is a tale of war and devotion, longing and loss, and the power of love to prevail.

Set in India's remote Andaman Islands before and during WWII, the story revolves around a mysteriously mute four-year-old who vanishes on the eve of Japanese Occupation. Little Ty's parents, Shep and Claire, will go to any lengths to rescue him, but neither is prepared for the brutal and soul-changing odyssey that awaits them.

Captivating, fascinating

If only the narrator hadn't whispered this in a monotone, this story would have held my attention all the way through. However, I kept losing focus or being put to sleep, so I ended up listening to the same scenes multiple times. The story covers multiple scenarios, themes, and continents from the United States to the islands off India and back up to Great Britain.

Highly recommend!!!

I loved this book! Great characters and fascinating undertold World War 2 history along with anthropology and child development themes. Our book club met with the author via zoom tonight and she was a wealth of information and fun!

Reading way too soft

The narrator literally whispered this story. I always listen in my car, had to turn the sound up and had my GPS SHOUTING at me!

Suffering

Felt the title was misleading. Always glad to learn, and this book is different than any WWII story I’ve ever read, but it was very upsetting to me, even knowing war is always upsetting. The BOY was to me insignificant to earn the book title.
