Publisher's summary

From the pages of the Pew! Pew! anthologies comes the complete adventures of Ben and his “friend” Chip, for the first time in a single, full-length novel format.

Just when Ben's contemplating whether or not he can use his robotic arm to strangle himself, he sees an ad promoting a new mining colony on Europa. A new life, good pay, and respect await him if he can just get there from Mars. The hot girl in the ad may have helped, too.

But space isn't a place for the weak, or the terminally unlucky, and when calamity strikes right out of the gate, Ben starts to think getting to Europa may take a farking miracle.

The Glitchover: After a devastatingly crushing, utterly suicidal, incredibly stupid trip to Europa, Ben returns to Earth embarrassed and defeated. But Earth isn’t the home he left behind. In orbit, a mass of darkness looms threateningly, and it is the only thing standing between Ben and surviving.

Running out of food on his ship, the Shistain, becomes the least of his problems as he grows ill eating tainted Vienna sausages only to discover that aliens have invaded the planet and it is up to Ben to save the world.

With his first mate Chip, a gay sex robot, he rushes toward Earth between hellish bouts with nausea and crippling hallucinations. In order to survive the ordeal, Ben must put his life in the hands of an android struggling with a corrupt software update that makes him hornier than a 14-year-old boy at cheerleader camp.

What could go wrong? For Ben, potentially everything.

Glitches Wild: With Lady Luck on his side, Ben doesn’t need any enemies. In a game of high stakes, he puts in all on the line, and probably loses.

They said he was lucky to be alive, that surviving his perilous journey and ultimate crash was a blessing in disguise. Ben isn’t one to agree, though, as he tries to up his “reward” in order to facilitate repairs to his ship, the Shistain, in a poker match against Buck Rodgers, the richest man in West Virginia. Ben soon discovers that poker isn’t his game as he loses his ass in more ways than one. But maybe there’s a silver lining to being the unluckiest man on Earth. Or maybe that’s the lie he holds on to to help him sleep at night. Either way, with Lady Luck on his side, Ben doesn’t need any enemies.

all around fun sci-fi romp

Ben is the type to jump in feet first and never bother reading the fine print. After a run of bad luck, he finds an offer that looks too good to be true but may just solve all his problems. Yeah, you know where this one is going. This was an all around fun sci-fi romp, light on science, full of humor. There were bits that were over-the-top or predictable, but written in a thoroughly enjoyable manner. Chip was absolutely hysterical and I enjoyed his various iterations.

Glitch contains three parts of Ben's story where things just go from bad to worse to how is this even possible, but he somehow managed to end up on top despite it all (or himself). Jamie B. Cline did an excellent job narrating the characters and added to my enjoyment. Definitely a story I will listen to again. This is an honest and voluntary review of an ARC

A well-written, entertaining read

Glitch: A Comedic Sci-Fi Adventure, my third read/listen from author Drew Avera. A very enjoyable comedic science fiction read, again very different from my first two read from him. I was given an Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. The book was well-written & flowed smoothly & quickly. I look forward to reading more from this author, in fact, Broken Worlds is next on my TBR list and then I'll have to get more from him. The book was enjoyably narrated by Jamie B. Cline. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Highly recomment this very amusing book

Truly enjoyed this book. the main character really did have bad luck, often due to his own ineptitude, but still quite relatable. He does seem to be able to make the best of a bad situation most of the time. Toward the end his luck seems to change in rather unexpected ways.
The character development was very good and you could sympathize with his predicaments. The narration was also very good.

I highly recommend this very amusing book.

Unlucky guy,SexBot friend and Mishaps Galore!

When I started this title from Drew Avera - I'll be honest - I didn't care for Ben, who is the main character of the tale. He came off as self-centered, antisocial and sarcastic. His life is a series of mishaps and he seems to be the world's unluckiest guy. A heterosexual, he picks out a SexBot for his epic journey to Europa with his eyes closed. The SexBot, Chip, turns out to be a really sympathetic character who ends up saving Ben from all kinds of dangers and they become close friends. Chip's dialog is funny and witty and full of double entendre. Jamie B. Cline does an excellent job with all the characters. Yes I ended liking Ben and really enjoyed the story. This tale is different than Drew's other stories I have read or listened to but I enjoyed it.

Humorous SciFi Story

I enjoyed this audiobook a lot. There were three episodes combined together that featured Ben, a man whose life moved from one unfortunate catastrophe to another and Chip, his friend. The story had some twists and turns. I found it somewhat addicting. Once the audiobook started, I had to listen until the end. Jamie B. Cline's narration was entertaining and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Seinfeld feel with hapless hero falling forward

easy listen as our intrepid hero rolls the dice and literally spins for random companion as he heads off to a new life in far off Europa.

Ben encounters a series of events in which he invariably either chooses wrong or he is overcome by events, but he is rescued consistently by those who he has treated kindly. often unexpectedly

pg-13 at worst.

thumbs up.
