Publisher's summary

Sohrab Ahmari was a teenager living under the Iranian ayatollahs when he decided that there is no God. Nearly two decades later, he would be received into the Roman Catholic Church.

In From Fire, by Water, he recounts this unlikely passage, from the strident Marxism and atheism of a youth misspent on both sides of the Atlantic to a moral and spiritual awakening prompted by the Mass. At once a young intellectual’s finely crafted self-portrait and a life story at the intersection of the great ideas and events of our time, the book marks the debut of a compelling new Catholic voice.

New favorite narrator!

Jim Morlino is a terrific narrator and actor. I was convinced that the authenticity of the voice I heard speaking was the owner of the words and heartfelt experiences themselves. I keep a list of the narrators I listen to and reckon I would venture a future book purchase based on Mr. Morlino being its narrator.

Compelling Account with Excellent Reading

This is a very thought provoking journey of faith through the errors of modernity to an unexpected encounter with the Divine. Excellent prose in addition to a genuine "confession".

Excellent Reading

I love well-developed conversion stories. Jim Morlino's thoughtful reading contributed to the overall understanding of Sohrab Ahmari's 'confession.' If it's Audible, we are usually slightly distracted. Jim keeps you on pace with the significance of the events. You don't lose track. Loved this.

A thinking man’s conversion….

…complete with Augustinian overtones. I only wish he had mentioned some thing regarding what his wife felt about his conversion.

The God who acts through everlasting love.

Exceptional. Compelling. A very many thought provoking ideas here. At the very end, what amounts to the necessity of retaining the TLM as the timeless and priceless spiritual connection to the sacrifice of the Mass through the ages as the liturgy of the Mass par excellence.
