Publisher's summary

Award-winning archaeologists and New York Times and USA Today best-selling authors W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear bring us a gripping disaster thriller.

The seas flood their banks. Storms devastate entire continents. Fires envelop the world in darkness. The collapse begins...

Anthropologist Anika French makes an explosive discovery: Due to climate change, our world is threatened with collapse in just a few years, and humanity will perish. Anika’s committee chair published her work under his own name, now powerful people will do anything to obtain Anika’s statistical program for their own use.

With murder, kidnapping, extortion, and assassination on every side, Dr. Maureen Cole, a team of specialists, and bodyguard Skip Murphy will do everything in their power to keep Anika safe as they struggle with the implications of Anika’s work. For once the “fracture event” occurs, Anika’s model predicts the end of the world - and dark powers are already testing the model with devastating results.

Ultimately, it will be up to Skip, Maureen, and Anika as a deadly showdown in the Alps will determine who will profit from the destruction of civilization.

Fracture Event
by Kathleen O'Neal Gear and W. Michael Gear
Audio book read by Francis G. Kearney.
The audio book brings the reader full into the story, Kearney's voice adds depth to the mystery. As he speaks of the motor cycles and the cars brings the awe of appreciation of the vehicles, He's voice adds to the the characters awe of the calculations of Anika's accomplished calculations. Stressing the key factors and the importance of the model and making it more important.

I have been waiting of this to come out since I first heard about extended stories of Maureen and Dusty. It was sad that until now it was only in German. Hopefully the publication of this will allow us to see the prior story with these two beloved characters.
First off this book is fast paced and had more shooting, and stunts than a modern Marvel flick. Okay that was a joke, but it is an espionage novel at its heart. The idea of Collapse theory in Archeology and Anthropology is not a new concept, this books brings a what if, to this line of thinking. If we could use the predictions, and scattered evidence of the collapse of nations to predict the future, could we put it to good use? Many people are realizing in this post-Covid modern world that societies are more interconnected than ever before. Would you be able to save a collapsing nation if you know the triggers? This novel shows the unfortunate human nature to this idea, information is not always used for the best purposes. Come and enjoy the ride with this fast paced, action story, with an anthropological bases. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Michael and Kathleen for reminding us not only that the world is interconnected but that we are all vulnerable to something even if we don't know about it.
