Publisher's summary

The exciting new dramatic Western from Best-Selling Western author Cliff Roberts! All the action, all the tension and all the greatness the Western can provide.

The first four days riding the trail proved to be boring and uneventful. The young Lieutenant spent the majority of his time silently riding, while Sergeant Weaver was busy barking orders at the troopers, mostly trying to keep them in line, as if they were in a parade, instead of out on the trail.

The four days of boredom hadn't improved Slate's attitude regarding the mission he was on, they had only provided him with plenty of time to think about the challenges he may have to face.

Plus, he'd was beginning to realize the escort he was with, was a troop of greenhorns. Not a single man had been in Indian Territory before. Slate knew this by the fact, not one man had made a single mention of the Indians trailing along with them. At times, there was just a single brave about 200 yards off. If you love action-packed Westerns you will not want to miss Fort Tipton by Cliff Roberts!

No Substitute For Common Sense

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it kept me entertained.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sgt. Bidwell; I liked his tell-it-like-it-is attitude.

Which scene was your favorite?

The final confrontation with Charles Joseph in town.

If you could take any character from Fort Tipton out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Sgt. Bidwell, because of his personality & attitude.

Any additional comments?

Years of experience don't make up for common sense.

Fort Tipton

This was my first book by Cliff Roberts, I have to say I very much enjoyed this short story of historical western fiction, it had a good story line with believable characters. The narration by Theo Holland was spot on, I would recommend this story to anyone who likes this genre, I will definitely be reading or listening to more books by Cliff Roberts.

A take charge kind of guy!!!

The story was entertaining, action packed, and had a lot of detail in a short amount of time. It kept my attention and the main character was a take charge kind of guy who was backed by the governor. He didn't care who was in command if they didn't do their job or made bad calls then he was stepping up to get it done right. It was a typical white man against the Indians kind of story but it was different enough that you didn't feel like you had already seen or heard it before. It's definitely worth a listen especially with the high quality narration that was done. The author picked the perfect narrator that brought the story to life in that true gritty western fashion. The only thing I didn't like was that the author after having you go through the whole thing then had the main character retelling everything you already listened to. He could have just said after giving the details of the story....this was the decision. But instead he told in detail everything first. He kind of lost me there but overall it was a great story.

A Short AudioBook Made Better Through Narration

Fort Tipton by Cliff Roberts is a fairly "A to Z" story about a U.S. Calvary Fort who go up against the Indians in their territory. Though a quick listen, and with the story pretty basic, the adventure is saved by the narration of Theo Holland. The latter has, in my humble opinion, the best "everyman" voice out there in the narrator world. He puts just the right touch of characterization to the dialogue, which helps make the figures stand out individually, as well as move the story along. One of the narrator's talents is discerning the right tone for the character speaking; humor, sarcasm, drama, etc.
If you want a quick adventure to listen to, this is good, and I suggest listening to it, as it is a probably better "read" as an audiobook, thanks to the narration.
