Publisher's summary

When her last two plays are dismal failures and her relationship with her temperamental mentor falls apart, writer Bree O’Brien abandons Chicago and the regional theater where she hoped to make a name for herself to return home. Opening Flowers on Main promises to bring her a new challenge and a new kind of fulfillment.

But not all is peaceful and serene in Chesapeake Shores, with her estranged mother on the scene and her ex-lover on the warpath. Jake Collins has plenty of reasons to want Bree out of his life, but none of those are a match for the one reason he wants her to stay: he’s still in love with her.

Jake might be able to get past that old hurt if he knew Bree was home to stay, but is she? The only way to know for sure is to take a dangerous leap of faith.

This is a beautiful love story. The characters are all interesting and memorable. It is told in a wholesale way.

The one thing I don’t like…

…is she gets you so invested in these characters and you really feel it when they finally figure it out and then…it’s over and the next book drops you into a stranger just to torment you again. Love this family.

Love this narrator too. I am a fan of Quaint Location fiction so I gave it a shot. Show was ehhh and I hoped the books might have different outcomes. Yes, and it’s so much more satisfying! Now I don’t know if it’s the narrator or the author, but I’m hooked.

Immature Writing

The story about Bree and her career were interesting, however the Jake storyline was awful. He was condescending and completely judgmental. It felt like he blamed her for their loss which just screams red flag.

Also, why is it that O’Brien women have to end up with a man and especially a man they dated in high school? It’s a very immature love story but the other storylines about Bree, her parents, and her career were great and interesting. The narrator was great too. Hoping the rest of the series isn’t so immature,
