Publisher's summary

From award-winning author Randall Silvis comes a riveting exploration of the unforgivable secrets that families keep - and the consequences that come from exposing them.

Products of their run-down Pennsylvania mining town, three brothers grapple with their lives in decline. Harvey drives a delivery truck; Stevie works odd jobs; and Will is a struggling bar owner whose wife, Laci, is edging toward desperation when her boss offers her more money…for a price. Then, in this tight circle where prosperity is rare - and hope, even rarer - comes a breaking point in a simple but indefensible slight....

When Harvey gets shafted by his brother-in-law in a deal over a vintage Indian motorcycle, he enlists the help of Stevie and Will to set things right. But the revenge plan goes awry, and the three men stumble upon a shocking secret that, if revealed, would upend their lives.

As they’re crushed under the weight of a nightmarish truth and the damning evidence in their possession, it’s up to Laci to save her family from the coming storm the brothers have wrought. And no one is prepared for the fallout.

Good, not Great, but not Bad

First off, I think the narrator did a really good job with the story. I am torn about not rating the story better, but a three star story is what you are going to get. I am not going to critique this in depth, but there were areas where I thought the author went dark for no reason. With that being said, give it a listen and you will not be disappointed.

Dark and realistic...

This is the second book I've listened to by Randall Silvis. The first was a very poignant story Only the Rain. Both the books deal with families that have fallen on hard times.
This book tells the story of three brothers who were broken from a young age. Their lives are bleak but they have each other. This story is dark, sad, painful and much of it is almost too realistic.
I enjoy this author's writing style and in this book where much of it is not exactly what I would call suspenseful I still felt compelled to listen.
I did like the his first book better but still Recommend this book as a worthwhile listen.
Will Damron's narration is excellent.

Not really my cup of tea ...

I wasn't crazy about this book. Depressing and tragic, ended too abruptly. Too many loose ends without resolution. Character development was hit and miss. None of the characters were particularly likeable.
Sorry, this is one I just could have lived without. Just wanted to get to the end, and having arrived there, was left unsatisfied.
