Publisher's summary

"You bitch, you killed me. You suck!"

Being dead sucks. Make that being undead sucks.

Literally. Just ask Thomas C. Flood. Waking up after a fantastic night unlike anything he's ever experienced, he discovers that his girlfriend, Jody, the woman of his dreams, is a vampire. And surprise! Now he's one, too.

For some couples, the whole biting-and-blood thing would have been a deal breaker. But Tommy and Jody are in love, and they vow to work through their issues. Like how much Jody should teach Tommy about his new superpowers (and how much he needs to learn on his own). Plus there's Tommy's cute new minion, 16-year-old goth girl Abby Normal. (Well, someone has to run errands during daylight hours!)

Making the relationship work, however, is the least of Jody and Tommy's problems. Word has it that the vampire who nibbled on Jody wasn't supposed to be recruiting any new members into the club. Even worse, Tommy's erstwhile turkey-bowling pals are out to get him, at the urging of a blue-dyed Las Vegas call-girl named (duh) Blue.

And that really sucks.

Love in vein: listen to more vampire fiction.

Critic reviews

"A cheerfully perverse, gut-busting tale of young vampires in love....Moore writes with the jittery energy of a brilliant, charming class clown, mixing sex and gore and a potty mouth with a goofy-sweet sensibility to deliver laughs on nearly every page." (Publishers Weekly)

book-good, narrator-AWESOME!

a solid book from the author (this is my 4th of his that i have downloaded), but the standout is susan bennett and her reading of Abby Normal's journals. i was laughing out loud pretty much at every one...needless to say, this tends to scare people on the subway. LOL!

good romp

What idiot thought adding cloying elevator music between chapters and covering voice of reader was a good thing? NOT! Mars decent book. Kid first person is tiring and ending just fades as if author tired of writing and just want to put period at end to finish. And who is the statue of young woman at end?

Susan Bennett's narration is utterly brilliant

Susan Bennett brings Christopher Moore's words to life better than any title to which I've listened. This is especially true for the characters of Abby and Jared. You will laugh out loud listening to this offbeat, hysterical story about the misadventures of The Countess, The Vampire Flood and Abby Normal. The characters make this book with their over-the-top, ribald, quirky and impishly playful dialogue. Take off your serious face, just sit back and enjoy. As someone whose favorite authors are Clancy, Flynn, Baldacci and Thor, this book was a great change of pace and a chance for pure escapist whimsy with a bawdy and deft bent.

Unexpectedly Hilarious

Where does You Suck rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the funniest audiobooks I have listened to

What did you like best about this story?

The first book in the series was entertaining and fun to read. I decided to give the second book a shot and was so surprisingly entertained at how funny this book was. Abby Normal is by far one of the more entertaining characters I have ever read. I was literally laughing out loud throughout the book.

Have you listened to any of Susan Bennett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she is a good narrator and has diversity in her characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I think I finished it in just over two days.

Any additional comments?

Fun, entertaining, and freaking hilarious!

Funny, but trouble ending book

Although the book is very funny, with references and asides that will keep you laughing on almost every page...I mean, who can't love the vision of Chester, the giant naked cat?..it is also uneven. The relationship between the two main characters is sort of unbelievable, and you never get a real feel for the city, which should be a character in itself. Still, all that said, worth a listen. Ok to buy without having read the first book.

Amazing performance, distracting music

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I really enjoyed this book. I liked it much more than the previous novel. The reader's voice of Abby Normal was amazing and hilarious. The only thing I disliked about this book was the inclusion of music every few chapters. It was incredibly distracting and didn't fit the feel of the book.
