Publisher's summary

"You bitch, you killed me. You suck!"

Being dead sucks. Make that being undead sucks.

Literally. Just ask Thomas C. Flood. Waking up after a fantastic night unlike anything he's ever experienced, he discovers that his girlfriend, Jody, the woman of his dreams, is a vampire. And surprise! Now he's one, too.

For some couples, the whole biting-and-blood thing would have been a deal breaker. But Tommy and Jody are in love, and they vow to work through their issues. Like how much Jody should teach Tommy about his new superpowers (and how much he needs to learn on his own). Plus there's Tommy's cute new minion, 16-year-old goth girl Abby Normal. (Well, someone has to run errands during daylight hours!)

Making the relationship work, however, is the least of Jody and Tommy's problems. Word has it that the vampire who nibbled on Jody wasn't supposed to be recruiting any new members into the club. Even worse, Tommy's erstwhile turkey-bowling pals are out to get him, at the urging of a blue-dyed Las Vegas call-girl named (duh) Blue.

And that really sucks.

Love in vein: listen to more vampire fiction.

Critic reviews

"A cheerfully perverse, gut-busting tale of young vampires in love....Moore writes with the jittery energy of a brilliant, charming class clown, mixing sex and gore and a potty mouth with a goofy-sweet sensibility to deliver laughs on nearly every page." (Publishers Weekly)

Christopher Moore Surprise Interview!

From the characters and plot, to the feel of the environment and sense of experience for the reader; You Suck is another in a long line of unique and amusing stories of Christopher Moore. An excellent sequel to Bloodsucking Fiends, this story picks up the day after the end of it’s predecessor. Absolutely as enjoyable as the first!

Plus! An interview with the author at the end of the story!

Very funny but not for everyone.

If you liked "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Clerks" then just imagine if they had a baby it would be "You Suck" I found it very funny. If your taste runs in the direction I mentioned you will enjoy this story, and really get some good laughs.

Definitely DOES NOT SUCK!!

I've been a fan of Mr. Moore's writing for a few years now, and I had read the first book in this series (Bloodsucking Fiends) in paperback. This second installment is pure genius. One wouldn't normally think that the challenges of being a young vampire in modern day America could be so challenging, and funny.

Susan Bennett has a marvelous talent for voices and accents, and perfect comedic timing. I found myself listening with rapt attention to the "Chronicles of Abby Normal", and giggling at her narrative parts.

I cannot wait for the next book (already downloaded), and hope that they make this series into a film version!

Very amusing

If you are easily shocked by potty mouth language, this book is not for you. However, if you enjoyed Moon Unit Zappa's one claim to fame and Leslie Nielson's take on vampires...mixed somehow with "Return of the Living Dead" (1980s version) you are on the right track. There were several laugh out loud moments.

Excellent sequel and performance

The only problem with this book was that it is too short. I wasn't ready for it to end. The performance was excellent. Also enjoyed the interview with the author at the end.

Hilarious!

Loved the story. The characters were great. Loved Susan Bennett's performance. The only thing I did not enjoy with the audio was the prelude music, which played suddenly and faded with the next chapter being read.

Vampires Have Never Been Funnier

I love Christopher Moore novels, and this was one was no exception.

The second book in Moore's vampire trilogy ("Bloodsucking Fiends" is first), this book continues the story of Jody and Tommy after she has been turned.

The dry humor and sarcastic wit of his characters and their dialogue makes me laugh so much. I love how he intertwined characters from “A Dirty Job” into this novel. It was neat to the see the scene in Asher’s Secondhand Shop from Jody’s perspective instead of Charlie’s.

Loved the book, but initially, I wasn’t too keen on the ending, but it works well with the third, and final, novel in the series, "Bite Me."

Fantastic but for one thing...

There is this music that is randomly inserted as a transition between certain chapters. It hits very suddenly, inconsistently, far too loud, and for just long enough that you'll think that there's something wrong with whatever device you're listening on. But it's not so bad as to destroy the experience, just an annoyance.
