Publisher's Summary

Emmy Award-winning actor Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Malcom in the Middle) follows in the exasperated footsteps of Samuel L. Jackson, giving voice to the long-suffering father whose indifferent child will just not eat in this hilarious follow-up to Adam Mansbach's international best seller, Go the F--k to Sleep.

Mansbach's long-awaited sequel is about that other great parental frustration: getting your little angel to eat something that even vaguely resembles a normal meal. Profane, loving, and deeply cathartic, You Have to F--king Eat breaks the code of child-rearing silence, giving moms and dads (new, old, grand-, and expectant) a much-needed chance to laugh about a universal problem.

Anchored by a hilarious performance from Cranston, You Have to F--king Eat is the perfect blend of talented voice actor and subversive fun that expertly captures Mansbach’s trademark humor. Due to its explicit language, you probably shouldn't play this one for your kids.

If you could sum up Free: You Have to F--king Eat in three words, what would they be?

    Fucking EAT kid

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was the child, because they caused the main conflict in the book and advanced the plot nicely.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The last scene, it threw a real curveball.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Of course, but I had to clear a few things from my schedule to fit it in.

    Any additional comments?

    The credits are quite long.

Would you listen to Free: You Have to F--king Eat again? Why?

I'll listen to this several times. It's so frustratingly accurate that you have to laugh.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bryan Cranston as the aggravated parent is spot on.

Have you listened to any of Bryan Cranston’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any other audio performances by Bryan Cranston, but I absolutely will now.

If you could take any character from Free: You Have to F--king Eat out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Bryan Cranston, of course, to see what he'd say when I don't fucking eat!

    I enjoyed this so much!

    "Amazingly Accurate!"
What made the experience of listening to Free: You Have to F--king Eat the most enjoyable?

I think having experienced the same emotions as the father in the story it just made things more hilarious.

Have you listened to any of Bryan Cranston’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Bryan Cranston is a great talent. Not only can he do comedy well, but drama perfectly also. His range is phenomenal and he was a great choice for this title.

    Any additional comments?

I had downloaded Go the F**K to Sleep when it was offered previously and enjoyed it. I think it's a great opportunity for Audible to get new members by offering free access to books.

"Great follow up to Go the F*#$ to Sleep!"

Love Cranston, and thought he was a great reader for this profanely fitting follow up to Go the F*#$ to Sleep. I have 2 kids, and this perfectly encapsulated the internal monologue that runs through our heads as parents.

P.S. My favorite reader of the first book is Werner Herzog.

I like scifi and urban fantasy. I don't like romance novels. If you are the same my reviews should help.

"Worth it, but then again it was free.."

This is basically a follow up to the go to sleep book narrarated by Samuel L. Jackson. This one is exactly like the first book. It is funny, but the shock is over. It is saved by having it read by Bryan Cranston. If the author does another book maybe they could get James Earl Jones to read it. It was free which is good because I would not pay for a 4 minute novelty book. This one is still free so give it a go, otherwise save your money unless you are a diehard Cranston fan.

Eating the roll off the floor, rings true.

    "Hilarious!"
If you could sum up Free: You Have to F--king Eat in three words, what would they be?

    Seriously f--king hilarious!

What about Bryan Cranston’s performance did you like?

The Breaking Bad references (pancakes & scotch, neat)! I heard the original "Go the F--k to Sleep" about a year ago and loved it, but being a huge fan of Cranston, I like this one even better.

Who was the most memorable character of Free: You Have to F--king Eat and why?

    Brian F--king Cranston, of course.

    Any additional comments?

This was awesome. Thank you for making my day, audible!

    "So Freaking Funny"
What made the experience of listening to Free: You Have to F--king Eat the most enjoyable?

It's a relevant problem for all parents and nannies alike.. children not wanting to eat when they're supposed to and then being finally hungry at the end of the night just as you're tucking them into bed and ready to head to sleep yourself. I have no children of my own but as a nanny, I experienced the frustrations of kids' erratic eating habits every day and I can totally relate. Plus Bryan Cranston's reading was fantastic.

What other book might you compare Free: You Have to F--king Eat to and why?

Style was slightly reminiscent of The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus with the dry and sarcastic humor and on-point perspective into a very real struggle adults face with children.

What does Bryan Cranston bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It's way more funny with his narration and the way he seems to really "get" the parent's emotions throughout the various situations with their kid.. the roll on the floor at the restaurant, the full, untouched lunchbox. Brings more humor to the story than if I just read the book. I mean, it's Bryan freaking Cranston.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really, just smiled at the totally accurate portrayals of how completely irritating kids can be when it comes to food and Bryan Cranston's narration was hilarious.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! Cranston reading this made it EPIC!

What other book might you compare Free: You Have to F--king Eat to and why?

    Go the F**k To Sleep

    Which scene was your favorite?

"Have some respect for the children that don't get asparagus"

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Breaking Bad Words: Cranston on child nutrition"

    Any additional comments?

    CLASSIC!
