Publisher's summary

John Kelly, former Navy SEAL and Vietnam veteran, is still getting over the accidental death of his wife, when he befriends a young woman with a checkered past. When the past reaches out for her in a particularly horrifying fashion, he vows revenge and sets out to track down the men responsible. At the same time, the Pentagon is readying an operation to rescue a key group of prisoners in a North Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp. One man knows the terrain around that camp better than anyone: John Kelly.

Kelly has his own mission. The Pentagon wants him for theirs. As Clancy takes us through the twists and turns of Without Remorse, he blends the exceptional realism and authenticity that are his trademarks with intricate plotting, knife-edge suspense, and a remarkable cast of characters.

Terrible abridgment; definitely get unabridged

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I bought the abridged version by mistake and the narrator is horrible. And due to the sloppy abridgment I was often lost and didn't really care about anything going on. My fault for not checking but I seriously wonder who benefits from these abridged recordings.

What do you think your next listen will be?

any other Jack Ryan book that hasn't been abridged and performed badly.

Would you be willing to try another one of David Dukes’s performances?

NO.

Not His Best, But Worth The Read

Having listened to all of the Clancy books on Audible, I really enjoyed this one. I don't think it is his best, but still an interesting story line with a number of surprises. Clancys detailed descriptions and picture painting is always enjoyable. This book does contain lots of profanity. The "F" word abounds. I woundn't listen to is in traffic with the windows rolled down.
All in all a great listen with a great story. Kept me listening through several hours of heavy traffic.

Review of Without Remorse

David Dukes absolutely butchered this story. He spent most of the first hour of the book attempting to imitate a 21 year old female drug addict from Texas. I had to turn off the book at the one hour mark because I could not stand to listen any longer.

Wihout remorse

Clancy needs to publish these stories unabridged, I've read most of his books and the audio losses some of the sense of the story.

some remorse

Enjoyed this book, my first "Listening Book" typical of Tom Clancy books I have read in the past. I did however find the narration poor especially when he reverted to female voice.

Good Story

The story line is good, a bit gory at times but fascinating. The language is adults only, I sent an email over to audible asking for a version without the F Bomb and GD every few seconds. Hard to listen to with young ears around.

Heart pumping & exciting

This book must have been one of Tom Clancy's early works, it had a good plot. The only disappointing issue was the voice of the narrator, it was lame and mono-tone.

Great Book

I read the book and had troubles putting it down as I was intrigued of what would happen next. One of the best books I have ever read. I make judgements if I would have the book in my library or not and I would definitely have this book in by library. It is a suspense thriller to keep you on a roller coaster ride. Well worth your money.

Revenge without Remorse

One of Clancy's first. It's an exciting cop thriller with love, revenge and mystery contained in a suspenseful context. The hero falls i love with a drug addict and seeks revenge for her killer. I can't imagine that kind of life, which is why it 's exciting.

Buckle Up and Enjoy the Ride!

Let me begin by stating that I am a huge fan of classical literature. In fact, within my library this book is sandwiched between Dickens and Hugo.
I downloaded this book on the recommendation of a friend and was unsure if I would really like it. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It is an excellent and extremely entertaining listen! David Dukes does an excellent job with the narration and does well to keep in good pace with the action.

I will caution the reader that this book may lead you a Tom Clancy obsession! I still love my classics, but John Clark is the man!
