Publisher's summary

Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.

Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands. A trip to the end of the earth is problematic.

To find her mother, Bee compiles email messages, official documents, secret correspondence - creating a compulsively readable and touching novel about misplaced genius and a mother and daughter's role in an absurd world.

Great Story!

This is one of my favorite Audible books! The story is engaging and the format of letters and emails help make it great! This has been made into a movie, but after seeing the trailer, I won't bother. The trailer had inaccuracies in it. Don't watch the movie unless you have listened to this fantastic book!

Disappointing Ending

The read was good but I found the ending a little disappointing. At the end, I was like "what?!"

Looking Forward To The Movie :)

This was an unexpected but great listen! I was half way through the book when I saw a preview of the movie. It was funny and moving, and the characters were relatable. Can't wait for the movie.

Super Fun quirky story

I almost didn’t get through the first chapter. In general I hate audio books read in the voice of a child, or told from the perspective of a child, so this one started rough for me. But keep going. It’s worth it. The perspective shifts and the story is really told from the view point of many people based on their correspondence. It’s laugh out loud funny, and very unique. If it starts shakey for you too, give it another 30 minutes. Well worth it. Sad when it was over.

Enjoyed the story.

I didn’t care for the reader. Way to expressive and annoying. Wish I had just read the book.

Slow at first but stay with it

At first I was not so interested in the slow narrative, but the story picks up soon after the first few letters and ends up being laugh out loud funny and also endearing.
A few unexpected twists and happy ending.

Amazing narrator!

I don't know if it was the book or the narrator I am more in love with! This book is fun, light hearted, and insightful.
