Publisher's Summary

Diana Gabaldon's magnificent historical saga, begun with Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, continues with this New York Times best seller. Set in the intriguing Scotland of 200 years ago, the third installment in the romantic adventures of Jamie and Claire is as compelling as the first. Now that Claire knows Jamie survived the slaughter at Culloden, she is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. She aches to travel back through time again to find the love of her life, but, in order to do that, she must leave their daughter behind. It has been 20 years since she and Jamie were forced to separate. Can she risk everything, maybe even her life, on a gamble that their love has withstood the long, rigorous test of time?

Diana Gabaldon's powerful, witty, and heroic characters lend themselves well to the rich, melodic narration accorded them by Davina Porter. Under her spell, listeners find themselves transported back through time to exciting, faraway places alive with people they would enjoy knowing.

    "Turning into romance novels"

When I started listening to these books I wasn't turned off at all by the gentle way that the author described romantic encounters. Each book in the series though, becomes more and more explicit. It's not that I'm opposed to a good romance novel, I just want to know that's what I'm in for.

    "Narration"

This book is more of a transitional book and a slower read, but once again best narration ever by Porter.

    "EXCELLENT ... as expected !"

This author and this narrator cannot be beat! The author's unlimited imagination and story writing talent is the most wonderful way possible to learn history while being thoroughly entertained!
The narrator is amazing! Her ability to portray each and every character via multitudes of accents and different voices is astounding!
While the author colorfully builds the personality of each individual, the narrator makes you feel as though you know each one personally. What a treat! I am ready for the next book. What will Gabaldon think of next?

    "Love this narrator"
    Any additional comments?

Davina Porter does such a good job with these books. Don't know if I would have "read" the Outlander books if not for their availability on Audible. The story is really fun, but occasionally the writing is a bit of a slog...I skimmed the first book in print. But Ms. Porter's narration, the accents and voices for the characters, the pace of her reading - just exceptional. Makes the books so much fun to listen to...sometimes when listening I just can't "put the book down!"

"One of the best stories ever"

This series is great. Makes you laugh and cry and think about how easy life is today. If we had a guy like Jamie we would all be happy.
