I have enjoyed the Karin Slaughter books and looked forward to the next in the series eagerly. Whilst it carried on with the lives of the same characters I found the plot quite ordinary and it failed to grip me or hold my attention in the same way as the previous novels.
I was disappointed by the female narrator who's 'male voices' just annoyed me and distracted further from the story. Shame.
"Karin did it again"
Addictive, hard hitting, passionate!
I won't say I think it will spoil the book....
Will, I loved his vulnerability....
Yes definitely but I had to listen to it on the way to and from work. I was having terrible withdrawal symptoms i so listened to it at home at well just to see what happened next!
Loved this installment of the developing relationship between Will and Sarah can't wait for the next book in this series.
I'm a Karen Slaughter fan, and this did not disappoint me! Held my attention from beginning to end. The narrator was good and I wouldn't think twice about listening to another book read by her. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and this one was one of the best for a long time.
"The importance of a good speaker"
I have always loved this author and I am sure this book is just as good as the others, however the narrator seems to believe that to read the male words she has to make this really deep voice. it makes the words difficult to understand and has completely spoiled the beginning of the story for me. I am trying to persevere with this book because the author is usually so good but I am unsure I will be able to cope with this narrator.
I have scored the book low only because It is so difficult to get into it with this narrator.
"Slow story, slow delivery"
The book would have been better if it had been half the length and got to the point without the continual rehashing of ideas.
Really slow delivery, awful voices.
I have liked most of the other books by Karin Slaughter. The last one was a bit odd but this one was just tedious.
"don't do it!"
good story but seriously the narrator would make want to give up after the first chapter! the different voices for the characters distract you so much I lost track of the storyline. I rarely write reviews but this was so bad I couldn't not warn people!
Love the Karin Slaughter books but this narrator was the worst I've ever heard. I actually couldn't listen to it after a few chapters and ended up downloading the ebook instead to finish reading. I've listened to hundreds of audible books & this was the first time I couldn't finish listening due to poor narration. The narrator had poor pacing, poor accents, awful phrasing that detracted from the meaning of the story. However the worst part of the narration was the terrible male dialogue. The narrator put on what I can only describe as a voice that a child imitating the Incredible Hulk would use. Particularly unsuitable for the Will Trent character. It was very disappointing and given that this is a very popular author I would hope that this book would be rerecorded with a better narrator.
I spent so much time thinking how awful the narrator was that I can't really say how good the book is. The male voices seemed to be a hoarse throaty voice that meant I couldn't always understand what was being said.
So awful I couldn't concentrate
"Will Trent and Sara Linton"
karin slaughter has developed.the characters of both Will Trent and Sara Linton in this compelling story.
I love the detective side of the.story with murder and mayhem on every side.
"Spoiled by the awful naration"
Struggle to concentrate with a southern accented female especially when she putting on a deep male voice. Normally really like to read the books but cant face anymore of this.
Really couldn't say
Accent is so heavy and awful when she reads male parts.
Has put me off listening to more audio books.
