Publisher's summary

MaryJanice Davidson's cult hit Undead and

Unwed is a delightful mixture of Sex and the City and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Waking up in a tacky coffin and wearing off-brand shoes, Betsy Taylor can't believe the horrible turn her life has taken; then she discovers she's a vampire. Soon, Betsy becomes a participant in a power struggle between the forces of darkness. With only her friend Jessica and the hunky vampire Sinclair to help her, this new "Queen of Vampires" will have a tough time getting her afterlife straight.

"Sexy, steamy, and laugh-out-loud funny, Davidson's chick-lit foray into the paranormal is delightful." (Booklist)

The narration!

I read these books years ago & wanted something to have on in the background while working. I got over the solid valley-girl voice the narrator chose for Besty (anyone who knows the series, knows that when Besty gets pissed, she does not sound like a valley girl), but all the other voices! The voice she chose for Tina - ugh! Like some slithering snake - Marc sounds like he is some clueless guy - when he is quite smart. I’m not even sure why she assumed Jessica would have some southern lilt to her voice. I normally wouldn’t rate on a narrator when it appears the whole series is recorded (why harp at someone who can’t change it now), but this is just too painful to listen to. Add to all that, I actually heard coughing in the back ground a few times! And the editing - gaps in sound you could drive a truck through. Me. Davidson or her publisher surely had enough to finance a decent recording studio.

Alas, I read the books because they were fun & light - the books are worth the read.

Enjoyed the Book, did not care for the audiobook

I read the first 8 books of this series, so decided to try the audio. in my opinion, this is how a narrator can ruin a book. I didn't feel her voice was the right fit for Betsy, but she did a decent job at Jessica's voice. I will not move forward with the audiobooks for this series

Humm

This is a comedy of a vampire story. While I enjoyed most of it.i did not feel the excessive use of language was necessary. I would have enjoyed it much more with a whole lot less. Betsy the main character is hard to wrap your head around. Still if you want lit and don't mind profanity this is your book.

Vamp Drama at it best!!😂

I read the story back in the 1990s and thought it was cute. But now that I older, this book is just freakin hilarious. I wish I had some of Betsy’s moments especially with my own Sinclair. From the start to the end of the book, nothing but hilarious moments,

Great Concept / Annoying Character

I've read the Twilight and Sookie Stackhouse series and I was very eager to start on the Undead series. This book was entertaining with a great plot but is it just me or does Betsy get to be extremely annoying and brainless. I know she is supposed to be a woman in her late 20's/early 30's who ran a hectic office with complicated bosses and colleagues. A blonde bombshell heroine but she comes across as a blonde bimbo who is extremely emotional, lacks common sense, and acts more like she's a pre-teen going through puberty and made to share a bedroom with her little brother. She's not just tempermental, she's ridiculously rude, illogical, and whiny. She's commonly displayed as a self righteous, pouting, stomping, confidence-starved 14 yr old that says things like "ick", "yuck", "blach", and "gross". It's definitely "Sex in the City" meets "Twilight" meets "Austin Powers" meets "Rugrats". Of all the amazing things she can do and ample power she has, she spends most of her time mudslinging, name calling, and staging "biotch" fights. Listen/Read this for the sheer mindless entertainment. Overthink the storyline and you'll regret it..even if you do subscribe to Vogue and own a pair of Manolo Blahniks.

really like this series.

Great series. loved it. Mary janice Davidson is a great writer and in this series she answers all the questions people normally have about vamps. I listened to all the availible undead Books and cant wait for the next book in july. In the mean time i am listening to Molly harpers werewolf books and also here vamp books. She is also a great writer.

Ridiculous

MaryJanice Davidson is fantastic. Her stories are witty and well-constructed, and she has created a wonderful protagonist. Betsy is superbly shallow. This series is a convergence of Sex in the City, the Shopaholic novel series, and paranormal/urban fantasy. Enjoy it. I know I did :)

Undead and Unwed

I laughed and chuckled - just what I need in an audio book. Highly recommend for the fun of it. Off to purchase the next book (but it's hard to tell which is next because they aren't numbered!).

Witty & Funny

I was surprised at how much I liked, no loved this book. I was caught laughing out loud a few times! I never thought I would love a story about a vampire, Betsy the Vampire Queen is irresistible.
