Publisher's summary

MaryJanice Davidson's cult hit Undead and

Unwed is a delightful mixture of Sex and the City and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Waking up in a tacky coffin and wearing off-brand shoes, Betsy Taylor can't believe the horrible turn her life has taken; then she discovers she's a vampire. Soon, Betsy becomes a participant in a power struggle between the forces of darkness. With only her friend Jessica and the hunky vampire Sinclair to help her, this new "Queen of Vampires" will have a tough time getting her afterlife straight.

"Sexy, steamy, and laugh-out-loud funny, Davidson's chick-lit foray into the paranormal is delightful." (Booklist)

I have loved this storyline for years!

I've had the books for over a decade and I still love it. I kinda wish the voice was from mn itself just cause we talk funny but I still love it all.

Not for straight men, unnecessarily smutty

A decent story with unnecessarily descriptive, smutt spattered throughout. If something further, the story I can understand it, but this was just register rag. I ache over Fabio silliness.. it was not for me however, if that is your thing you could probably write this a three or four

Shopaholic Meets the Undead

If you like the Shopaholic type books and vampires you will love this series. Queen Betsy is great. I just listened to the first book in the series a week ago and I am all ready on book three. I normally wait for my credits but could not wait to get to the next book in this series. The narrator is great and sounds just like what I thought Betsy would sound like. This is not a hard core mystery book, it is a little mystery with a lot of fun and a little sex tossed in for good measure. FYI this is not a young adult book, even though there is not a ton of sex it is pretty graphic when there is so I would not recommend to young adult readers.

Better than I thought....

What did you love best about Undead and Unwed?

Undead and Unwed is not your typical vampire romance. It was very light and funny. I think reading the book would be different from listening to the book. The narrator did a fabulous job.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The book seemed quick to end with a hot and steamy pool scene. I hope there are more scenes like this in future books... WOW!

What about Nancy Wu’s performance did you like?

I loved Nancy Wu narrating the book. She was hilarious. I definately had some laugh out loud moments.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was moved to laugh.... A LOT!

Any additional comments?

I had seen this book in the bookstore in the past. I totally judged the book by its cover. I only downloaded it because it was on sale. And I'm glad I did. I was delightfully suprised. I will be listening to the next book in the series very soon. Happy Listening!

Delicious

Deliciously naughty and funny. Can't wait to listen to additional downloads in this series. Makes me want to join the undead, but only on Betsy's terms.

Fun, light comedy

Reminiscent of Buffy the vampire slayer and Angle, good light hearted fun. Sarcastic characters balanced with some serious characters and pretty good plot. I guess that's why I wasn't disappointed by lack of maturity and substance like some reviewers who may have been in the mood for a more serious or drama like an Anne Rice kind of book. Nancy Wu delivers a great valley girl narration without overdoing it for the main character. Only one or two of the male characters voices were a little annoying but I liked most of male and female character voices she gave them. I agree that this book isn't a deep drama or for kids but I found it funny and entertaining and will be getting the next in the series.

Funny and lighthearted

After being bogged down with all the serious and broody vampire novels lately, I was delighted with how fun and lighthearted this book turned out to be. The main character Betsy kept me laughing at her one-liners! The narrator was absolutely wonderful in her portrayal of Betsy as being a valley-type girl. The only problem I had were the occasional background noises you would hear, like in the middle of chapter 22, you heard a man start coughing in the background! Really! You couldn't grab a Ricola and do another take? Other than that, this book was extremely enjoyable, especially if you are tired of the "woe-is-me" vampire genre.

My first audio book

If you could sum up Undead and Unwed in three words, what would they be?

Funny AND hot

What does Nancy Wu bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I read this book years ago and lived it, but the audio version really brings it to life. She does a great job with the voices and portrays Betsy just like invisioned her
