Quite Disappointing

This book did not live up to the reputation of the various authors. The stories were very short and seemed to just END about the time I was getting interested in the plot. The narrators were, on the whole, lacking, not adding to the pleasure of the experience.

Good Reading!

Stories were generally good... a few disappointments here and there, but worth listening to. As usual, Dick Hill and Joyce Bean made listening a pleasure!

So - So

This book was pretty mediocre. There were some good ones in here - such as "Diplomatic Constraints", "James Penney's New Identity'", "Disfigured" and "Empathy".

However, an equal number of the short stories are bland. And some, such as the "The Tuesday Club" and "The Powder Monkey" were so annoying, I skipped through most of them. And there is NOTHING in here that would keep you up at night.

If you're looking for something in this vein, "The Century's Best Suspense Stories" edited by Jeffery Deaver is MUCH better, even though the audiobook only has 1/2 of the stories as the real book. ("For Reasons Unknown", "The Weekenders" and "Quitter's Inc" from Deaver's collection are great stories and are much more likely to keep you up at night)

This may come down to an issue of taste, but I LOVE short stories and when you've read a good number of fantastic ones, you realize that no one can put together a book where every story thrills every reader. However, having said that, I would be hard pressed to believe that the stories in this book are the best that the editor could find.

Yikes…asking for a refund

The stories were awful, the intros way too long, and the overly dramatic and mouth noises of the narration pulled me completely out of the story and just annoyed me beyond measure. Don’t waste your credit.

Just Horrible

This was one of the two worst books I've listened to since I started with Audible.com about 8 years ago, and I've listened to a lot of books in that time. It was so bad I just gave up on it after about the 5th or 6th story. I'd finally lost all hope of hearing a good, or even mediocre, story.

Excellent Anthology

I am amazed at the negative reviews here. I thought this was an excellent anthology of thriller short stories. It gave me a glimpse of the works of authors I have not previously read, and many of the stories kept me on the edge of my seat.

HUGELY disappointed. .........

as a true "horror" fan and a reader/listener to many thriller/horror books I was mistakenly excited by the title and the description of this book.

There are approx 31 short stories in this collection each approx 30 min long. A few were actuary good stories, tho I wouldn't say they'd "keep me awake" . There are also a few good narrators, not many, but a few.

it seems the best stories were in the beginning of the book and a scant few mixed in with a good one at the end.

Personally, it wad a waste of my listening time , none compare to a good Stephen King, Jack Kilborn , JA Konrath, Dean Koontz, John Locke, etc.
