Publisher's summary

From David Wong, the writer of the cult sensation John Dies at the End comes another terrifying and hilarious tale of almost Armageddon at the hands of two hopeless heroes.

Warning: You may have a huge, invisible spider living in your skull. THIS IS NOT A METAPHOR.

You will dismiss this as ridiculous fear-mongering. Dismissing things as ridiculous fear-mongering is, in fact, the first symptom of parasitic spider infection - the creature stimulates skepticism, in order to prevent you from seeking a cure. That's just as well, since the "cure" involves learning what a chainsaw tastes like. You can't feel the spider, because it controls your nerve endings. You won't even feel it when it breeds. And it will breed.

Just stay calm, and remember that telling you about the spider situation is not the same as having caused it. I'm just the messenger. Even if I did sort of cause it. Either way, I won't hold it against you if you're upset. I know that's just the spider talking.

"Like an episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead" written by Douglas Adams of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." …Imagine a mentally ill narrator describing the zombie apocalypse while drunk, and the end result is unlike any other book of the genre. Seriously, dude, touch it and read it." –Washington Post

"Kevin Smith's Clerks meets H.P. Lovecraft in this exceptional thriller… David Wong (Jason Pargin) is a fantastic author with a supernatural talent for humor. If you want a poignant, laugh-out-loud funny, disturbing, ridiculous, self-aware, socially relevant horror novel than This Book is Full of Spiders: Seriously Dude, Don't Touch It is the one and only book for you." –SF Signal

Third time listening to this fascinating story

As a fan of the film & first novel (John Dies at the End) by David Wong, I feel Wong's writing tone encompasses a fantastic balance of humor, action, sci-fi, & social commentaries. Yes the jokes get a bit crude but it's realistic & appropriate for this era. His writing is relevant, lively, & intensely meaningful in our modern age. The underlying themes of the dangers of paranoia & fear could not be any more pertinent to 2015 American society. So woven in his fantastical thriller, Wong emphasizes the possible failures of humanity during near-apocalyptic scenarios. Of course, it's also hugely entertaining, unique, & characters are so thoroughly described that you could recognize them if you met them in real-life. Flawed, reckless, and ridiculously realistic, the main characters are far from ordinary protagonists.

Nick Podehl is an amazing narrator. He brings vivid emotion & energy to each personality, never failing to keep the right tone. I enjoyed the audiobook tremendously more over reading it, although several reads/listens are needed to fully appreciate the story's entirety. I recommend it to anyone who is seeking an escape from the repetitive superhero/good-guy vs bad-guy storylines.

Still laughing

I got this book because of the quirky description and 5 minutes into the book I knew it was the guy who wrote the book John Dies at the End. I loved that movie (please do not hold that against this review) and I went about researching David Wong and his writing. This was along the same line as the movie with David and John saving the world again and cracking me up the whole way. I was so inspired that I am now starting the audiobook version of John Dies. I am a little disappointed because Nick Podehl does such an awesome job with this book that it is going to get used to David and John's story in a new voice. I am now a fan and want more Wong. Try it and if you are a little off you will love this book. Where else can you get a funny, sci fi, zombie book.

Laugh out loud funny

And still suspenseful, lots of action, and a weird, well-thought out plot...if you like tongue-in-cheek horror , you'll love this.
The narrator is well-matched as well. So many fine books are ruined in the production of the audio version by either poor, just unsuitable narration. Not so here.
This was a really enjoyable audio experience.

good book, so so performance

Excellent story, guy's narrator voice doesn't sound natural, like he's trying too hard to make it sound deep which is kinda annoying. The female voices don't sound quite right but he does a great job with John & David's Midwest accent, TJ's African American accent, and a Latino accent. Also the way they say "Undisclosed" like it's been abruptly recorded over is hilarious.

Miss Thorne

Fun continuation of John Dies. David, John,Amy and yes, Molly are back with More monsters, gore and scary things that go bump. Sad at the end, won’t say why. If you read John Dies and liked, of course you’ll like this. I did miss Thorne’s narration. Nick wasn’t terrible, its just Thorne was excellent! Glad he’s back in next book.
