Publisher's summary

From David Wong, the writer of the cult sensation John Dies at the End comes another terrifying and hilarious tale of almost Armageddon at the hands of two hopeless heroes.

Warning: You may have a huge, invisible spider living in your skull. THIS IS NOT A METAPHOR.

You will dismiss this as ridiculous fear-mongering. Dismissing things as ridiculous fear-mongering is, in fact, the first symptom of parasitic spider infection - the creature stimulates skepticism, in order to prevent you from seeking a cure. That's just as well, since the "cure" involves learning what a chainsaw tastes like. You can't feel the spider, because it controls your nerve endings. You won't even feel it when it breeds. And it will breed.

Just stay calm, and remember that telling you about the spider situation is not the same as having caused it. I'm just the messenger. Even if I did sort of cause it. Either way, I won't hold it against you if you're upset. I know that's just the spider talking.

"Like an episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead" written by Douglas Adams of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." …Imagine a mentally ill narrator describing the zombie apocalypse while drunk, and the end result is unlike any other book of the genre. Seriously, dude, touch it and read it." –Washington Post

"Kevin Smith's Clerks meets H.P. Lovecraft in this exceptional thriller… David Wong (Jason Pargin) is a fantastic author with a supernatural talent for humor. If you want a poignant, laugh-out-loud funny, disturbing, ridiculous, self-aware, socially relevant horror novel than This Book is Full of Spiders: Seriously Dude, Don't Touch It is the one and only book for you." –SF Signal

Never disappoints

I had previously read this, but listening was a blast. No pun intended. This is a second book in a series that I would say absolutely holds it’s ground with the first. One minute I’m laughing at a burrito stand and the next I’m having an existential crisis wondering about all the bigger things at play in the universe. I love David Wongs perfect blend of satire, wit, and imagination which makes all his books so unique and awesome. Unless you can’t handle some carnage, I’ll never not recommend this series.

Excellent story with amazing delivery!

This book was absolutely great! Just as good as the first in the series and I cannot wait to read the next!
The narrator, Nick Podehl, was VERY entertaining. He changed voices between characters rather well and it added a lot of quality to the experience!
I recommend this book to anyone that enjoyed the first, John Dies at the End, or anyone else who loves a funny and action packed story packed full of original characters and an enthralling storyline!

Buy it now!

Read the book, listen to the audiobook. That’s really all that needs to be said… but I will say more. The story is compelling, entertaining and engaging. I will admit that I had a hard time with the narration. Nick Podehl delivered an involved, and well-rounded performance and he was great. At times he did lose me with the character meshing together a bit, as others have noted, but only because he was into the delivery of the performance and man, it’s got to be hard to keep up that many characters while giving them all a unique voice! But unfortunately I listened to Stephen R Thrones (narrator of books 1, 3 & 4) performances of the characters first, and those are the characters I fell in love with and wanted to go on this journey with. So I started the audiobook for book 2 and couldn’t get past the first hour originally. I skipped to book three and came back to book 2 when it was all I had left to keep the story going. The writing itself is great and again so is the actors performance, but d@mnit in my mind John is a laid back fella with a cool smooth voice who never loses his sh!t and that’s how I like him haha. Regardless, you need this book… so buy it… now

Fantastic follow-up to the fantastic "John Dies"

Would you listen to This Book Is Full of Spiders again? Why?

The audiobook ended, and I immediately started from the beginning again. The second time, I finished in half the time it took me to listen the first time.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Molly the dog, for reasons best left unexplained.

Have you listened to any of Nick Podehl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't, but he did an unbelievable job of bringing life to the different narrators.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

'Wong' has an amazing ability to share his dark thoughts about the nature of the universe through his exposition, and this is ever present throughout the book.

Any additional comments?

Thanks so much.

Insanely fun!

An absolutely amazing literary romp through the dark, hilarious, and grotesque mind of an incredible writer

Even better than John dies in the end.

First half was written in the same Bazar style, but the second half became amazing. The story line became super strong and the writer became very physiological, which I loved because he apparently is really smart.

Best author ever, great voice performance

I've listened to this book at least four times and it always surprises me with it's absurdity. I swear this book changes every time I listen. Best author ever.

Weird but keeps you interested

An off the wall, irreverent rift on a zombie apocalypse theme. Not sure what the author was on when he came up with some of his lines (soy sauce?) but glad he put it on paper (or on the computer). Entertaining.

Hahahahahahba

Hah it is a very vivid c’thulu madness. It has a hint of science and non linear thinking. Beware. It is funny and tragic at the same time
