The Woman is the powerful story of the last survivor of a feral tribe of cannibals who have been terrorizing the East Coast - from Maine into Canada - for years now. Badly wounded in a battle with police, a woman takes refuge in a cave overlooking the sea. Christopher Cleek is a slick, amoral - and unstable - country lawyer who, out hunting one day, sees her bathing in a stream. Fascinated, he follows her to her cave.

Cleek has many dark secrets and to these he'll add another. He will capture her, lock in his fruit cellar, in order to tame her, civilize her. To this end, he'll enlist his long-suffering wife Belle, his teenage son, Brian, and daughter, Peg, and even his little girl, Darlin', to aid him. So the question soon becomes: who is more savage? The hunter or the game?

Great 3 rd novel sequel to Off-season and Offspring was made into a by the numbers movie excellently played by Irish actress Pollyanna MacIntosh, The Woman, showed how a civilized family can dwell into the depths of depravity and madness, just as quick as the savage,The Woman, can muster up a iota of compassion for her captors. Loved the ending and for those grossed out by this story, I have to ask? Have you ever read Jack Ketchum before? Do you even know the term splatter punk and what it means? Go back to your Dean Koontz novels and quit insulting one of the masters of the genre .

The Woman is a tale of madness and depravity

Another Jack Ketchum Lucky McKee masterpiece in horror! Revealing anything about the plot would spoil it for the reader. Just know that it is not for the faint of heart.

Chet Williamson’s narration chillingly brings to life each of the characters. I will definitely be looking for other books narrated by him.

She is woman, hear her roar!

I enjoyed this book and the first one, ‘Off Season’. I wish this one were longer and full of more details but it was still a great listen.

Great follow up

This is a unique and deeply disturbing book about the consequences of messing with mother nature and all of her wonderful children. There's a very important lesson to be learned from this insightful book.

It's like the movie "Falling Down" set deep in the forest, with a female protagonist who uses her other attributes to achieve her goal of getting back at a world that's beaten her down.

Although disturbing, I enjoyed it greatly and was happier for having read it.

Sex! Violence! Incest! S&M! Abuse! Sexploitation!
