Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of The Way We Were by Sinead Moriarty, read by Robert Portal, Rachel Louise Miller, Alison McKenna and Daniel Weyman. Alice and Ben are a couple like any other bound together by love, work, children, familiarity, and a shared sense of purpose.

Arguing about the usual things, too - in-laws, whose career is more important, which of them is a soft touch with the children, who hates change and who craves it. But when Ben takes a step into the unknown and brings devastation on the family, it forces them to look at everything in a whole new way. Because as far as they know, this is the end of the line for their family.

So what will happen if they get a second chance? Can they - should they - go back to the way they were?

    "Really enjoyable!"
    Any additional comments?

This is a very good novel. However, it would have been better if the characters of, and the relationships between, Alice, Ben and Dan had been explored in more depth during part one. I can't say too much on this without giving a spoiler, but I felt ill informed for what came in respect of their behaviours in part two and that jarred a bit. Nevertheless, it is a good, and unusual tale.

    Story
    "A little disappointing"

The story line showed great promise but sadly the writing was a little immature for my taste. Also, the narration was irritating, especially when the voice of 'Jules' was sometimes a 'real child and then at others, was obviously a woman putting on a childish voice - not good.

    "Excellent storyline"

Excellent storyline, very real. Slightly disappointed with the ending which became a bit too good to true.
