Publisher's summary

When Grace Sheridan returns to Los Angeles to become a working actress, it's a second shot at a life-long dream. With some help from her best-friend agent, will that dream become a reality - or at 33, has Grace missed her chance at the big time? And when an unexpected sizzling romance with Jack Hamilton, the entertainment industry's newest "it" boy, threatens to shine an uncomfortable spotlight on her life, how will that affect her career... and his?

Funny, borderline neurotic Grace is perfect in her imperfections, and the sexual chemistry between her and charming yet blissfully unaware Jack is off the charts. With laugh-out-loud dialogue and a super-steamy romance that will get your heart racing, sneaking around in L.A. and dodging the paparazzi has never been so fun.

A fun read

This started off slow, more due to my reading mood, but it grabbed hold of me and drew me in. Gracie was infectiously likeable. Jack, George, Johnny Bitedown was quite enchanting. This was funny, early lust-love at its finest. True escapism. I now require book two!

Narration: perfect, fun narrator, that delivered the wit, the inner monologues and nicknames with panache.

Laugh Out Loud Funny!

There were multiple times that I laughed out loud while listening to this book! I loved watching the relationship blossom between Grace and Jack! They were silly with each other which was refreshing compared to other books where the relationship is so serious!

A hilarious engaging story!

So I 'read' this book as an audio version an it was fantastic :)

The narrator was perfect, story was hilarious and I loved all the banter between Jack & Grace.

The seven year age gap between them made no difference and I'm guessing a lot of women would gladly sleep with a guy Jack's age and his sexual stamina - yes please!

Looking forward to reading more in their story.

Boy Toy

Thirty something aspiring actress Grace meets twenty something successful actor Jack, which was cute for about 2 chapters. While Jack was sexy and amusing, I couldn't understand why Grace would waste her time with the male equivalent of a blond bimbo.

Perhaps if Jack had been unusually mature or less self-absorbed it might have been plausible for Grace to interested in this boy toy. Since I couldn't relate to Grace, I had a tough time caring how this book ended.

Because I enjoy Alice Clayton's sense of humor, I keep trying her books. Unfortunately for me, her novels appear to be geared toward young adults.

Refreshingly hilarious!

I listened to this in one sitting. I found the fact that this was not a typical romance very refreshing. The characters and plot were delightful; very down-to-earth and real. I liked that there wasn't any crazy breakups or cliff hangers or huge earth-shattering secrets kept/let out of the bag. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and laughed out loud frequently. I would read all of Alice Clayton's books for the humor alone, but the romance is a bonus! I wasn't super impressed with the narrator. I wished the performance would have included a British accent. I felt a lot of Jack's lines were under performed and didn't interpret well without the accent. I listened to another of Alice Clayton's books with another narrator and felt that this one for The Redhead Series didn't measure up. She wasn't completely terrible, but she sure wasn't great. I probably should have read this book instead of listened to It, but overall I really enjoyed the story.

loved this Story and the Narrator!

OMG! this was my first Alice Clayton book and I think I chose a great one to start with!

The Story was hot, sexy and hilarious! I found myself giggling one minute and fanning myself the next!

**"Top up or down?" I asked, my finger in the button.
He looked at me, turning the full force of his green eyes in me. "Top definitely down," he said as his eyes left mine, moving lower across my body, and then finally back up to mine.
I let my breath out in a slow whosh. D@mn. "Whatever you want, Hamilton" I said quietly.
My heart struggling to return to normal. This guy had yet to hug me, hold my hand, even touch me really. And with his eyes alone, he had my coming apart at the seams.
"Ill remember that, Grace," he smiled sexily.
Double d@mn.

The Narrator really brought Graces character to life, you can really 'see' her expressions and mannerisms through the narrators eyes. A great listening experience.

And Jack, oh my lawd, he was sexy and the perfect Book Boyfriend! Can't wait to get to the next book to continue their tryst!

Sweet Story, Terrible Narrator

Any additional comments?

I listened to Alice Clayton's "Nuts" a few weeks ago. Jack and Gracie made a cameo appearance in the novel and were such a great couple, I wanted to listen to their story as well. This first installment in their 3-volume story is sweet, sassy, and sexy.

Sadly, the sweet effect of the story was overshadowed by the wrong narrator. Why would a voice actress be hired for a story where one of the main characters is British and she can't do a British accent? I kept forgetting Jack was British because she read him in her oddly accented speech (not from any Midwest area I know of). Her voice reminded me of Paula Poundstone. Now I love Ms Poundstone but she's definitely not right for this book. The narrator spoke too quickly and gave us the feel of a stand-up comedian. It was continually disturbing.

I want to follow Jack & Grace's story and will probably purchase the other volumes, but I know I'll never enjoy it as much as I would if the narrator had been cast differently.
