Publisher's summary

Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership.

Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer, and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope - and finds love - is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake.

But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does...will she want it back?

Praise for The Undomestic Goddess

"Light and breezy... Samantha is eminently likable, and overworked readers will empathize with her glee at her first full weekend off in years." (Christian Science Monitor)

"Sophie Kinsella is at the top of the chick lit game. Her plots are fast-paced and entertaining, with the perfect amount of realistic neurosis to accompany her quirky heroines." (New York Post)

"Perfectly amusing... The Undomestic Goddess is a genuinely funny, sweet book. Kinsella is a comic whiz who consistently delivers what her readers crave." (Miami Herald)

"A lovely romantic comedy." (Washington Post)

PHENOMENAL!

This truly was a amazing book, I found myself gasping in shock and tearing up often. It brought me to tears more times than I can count then it threw me back into the clouds of happiness. I must say that I’ve never read such a well rounded book, this author really knows what she’s doing. It warmed my heart so much to read.

Such a great listen!

Every once in a while, you just need a Sophie Kinsella novel. That was the case for me. I needed a strong but funny heroine that got herself into a spot of mischief and then struggled to get out of it. In essence, that is very much this book but then it was so much more!!!

Our undomestic goddess, Samantha, was a high-flying lawyer that could neither clean nor cook. There were some seriously mirthful moments as she tried to figure out even the smallest domestic chore. The sequence of events are so well-written that you never doubted what was going on.

The narration kept you completely immersed into the story. Samantha had quite a few internal conversations and they were delivered to perfection.

Like I said, some days you just need a Kinsella book.

I liked it a lot!

Such a feel good story. I truly enjoyed listening to it. This one caught my attention so much that I found myself walking around the house with my ipod on, which never happens.

I Can't Believe It Too Me So Long To Listen!

I'm so sad this is over. This is by far the best narrated book I've ever listened to. The story itself was funny, but the narration made it even funnier. She captured each character's personality perfectly! I especially loved Trish, I found myself laughing out loud at almost every scene she was in. This is the perfect listen if you're hoping to temporarily take your mind off your problems. I loved every minute of it!

Good Beach listen

For some reason I had a hard time getting into this book. Other Sophie Kinsella books have been a snap for me...this one seemed a slow start, but the book is worth a listen...

Just what I was hoping for!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Lovely character development, fun situations, nice balance of humour and angst. I felt myself sharing her dread in the beginning and her confusion in the end. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Which character – as performed by Rosalyn Landor – was your favorite?

You just had to love Trish Geiger - but enjoyed them all

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely, consume it all at once

Treat your ears, Rosalyn Landor is AMAZING!

THE BOTTOM LINE
Story: 3.5 stars, cute, original and humorous modern romance
Performance: 5 stars, AMAZING, a real treat.
Relationship/ heat: nice, slow simmer
Overall: 4 stars, very enjoyable, easy summer read. Worth the credit!

THE BIG PICTURE
Others wrote about the book, which is delightful and entertaining, but I had to write about the amazing narration by Rosalyn Landor. Any book narrated by her is a treat for your ears!
I have always been a fan, but I listened to historical novels narrated by Ms. Landor, and thought that she was perfect for that genre. I was pleasently surprised to hear this contemporary narration so different and so on point! It was wonderful!
RL is able to change her voice, her pace, her accent and her intonation to fit the period of each book and each character beautifully.
Ms. Landor has a beautiful rich voice, adapting different voices to each character, and she is especially gifted with male voices. It is remarkable how she is able to distinguish between characters in such a masterful manner.
RL achieves what very few narrators are able to do, she actually acts, performing the book WITHOUT OVER ACTING.
A real treat, enjoy!

Campy storyline, mediocre listen

How many times can you hear “you don’t understand”? Utterly predictable, story needs editing, mediocre at best.
