As Always, Better Than the Movie

If you have read or listened to "Lonesome Dove" you will invariably want to read this book. It is on the dark side and many times quite graphic, but realistic, never over the top. This book is a reflection on life as a whole, leaving you with a lot to think about.

Keeps you on your toes!

Certainly without a doubt the author has a way to keep you engaged despite the many storylines. I’m not quite sure how he was able to keep it all straight in his head but I am impressed.

The romance of the west and the reality of human nature.

I've always loved the "romance" of "the west", and it is portrayed gracefully in this book. But I also enjoyed the reality of "the west" that was portrayed as well. Excellent

Too violent too tragic and too much of the ‘F’ word for me. Not a book I would have chosen on my own to read. Was our book club host who chose it.

The Son

I Loved this Book! So Cleverly written. In the end, it gives the reader a lot to think about in terms of family, wealth, and heritage.

Great story

A really great story, but not a pretty one. It has no noble heroes and a great many villains.
