Screaming into the wind with nothing to say

Some have called the themes of this book subtle, but there’s “subtle” and then there’s “the author isn’t actually going anywhere with this”. Maybe I’m just missing something, but I kept waiting for some kind of culmination. Some kind of… consequence to Bigelow’s obsession, I guess. Some kind of twist, some little insight to let me in on a secret depth to the novel’s world. But there is no depth. There are no insights. No wink wink, no sleight of hand. And considering the author’s other work, I am kind of concerned what this implies about Harrison herself.
