Excellent, Excellent, Excellent

Diana Galbedon can do no wrong. That is all.

OK there really more. Loved Jamies voiced done by eitherJeff Woodman or Rick Holmes whoever did his voice...it was great. Got the sound and phrasing and tone just like it's in my mind (same as the Highland (Heiland he says)accent my wiskey guru Ian Ramsey has as he talks about the oaken barrels from france or comments of the various fruity tastes different wiskeys have..great classes-makes you a much better whisky consumer. Oops off track again. So what I meant to say is that Woodma and Holmes are both excellent choices for Scotish Prisoners and /or Lord Grey.

The story flows quickly with intrigue, deals with the period of time where Jamie is at Helwater and is getting to spend more time with his 2 year old son. Goes up to the time where John Grey is thinking about marrying Isobel so he (Grey) can care for Jamies son.

I do enjoy quite a bit pieces focused on brief periods of time in these lives that I've come to know so well over the past 20+ years. I began reading Outlander the week it was published -bought it in Hardbound. Passed it on to my daughters, my sister and now a niece is reading it. Since I'm pushing the big 70 next month, I hope Diana Galbeldon finishes the next 2 books prior to my kicking off. I think I'll be really pissed if I die before she finishes the series!

nice change of perspective.

Good narration. I really enjoyed the the switch in perspective from Claire to Jamie and the story of the missing time that he spent in English custody.

Jamie's accent was butchered

Would you listen to The Scottish Prisoner again? Why?

No, the recording quality was too poor. The narrator made a mess of the accents. It was frustrating, as though Rick Holmes was completely unfamiliar with the character. Very flat and annoying performance.

Any additional comments?

The guy that reads Jamie's lines has apparently never heard a Scottish accent in his life. If you're used to Davina Porter, you'll find it terribly irritating. They need to scrap this recording and re-do it with Davina or an actual Scot.

Why two narrators??!

Jeff Woodman is wonderful again! But Rick Holmes is very annoying. Is voice is tiring and so boring. It sounds like he hated his job. And his characters have barely any difference between each other or the general narration. I really hate that they put two narrators on this book and fail to understand entirely why. If it was to give a new voice to Jamie and his thoughts, they should have had Rick Holmes do only that. Him voicing Jamie and everyone else during his narrating was terrible. Jeff Woodman did a fine Jamie voice before and again in this book. They should have ONLY had Jeff Woodman narrate. If that had been the case, I would have given the performance 5 stars.

Not a good Jamie Fraser.

I hate to admit it but I am addicted to Jamie Fraser's story and the Scottish Prisoner is a short and interesting "fill-in-the gaps" tale. It is a must read for any Outlander fan. I will reiterate it is a "must read" and not a listen to as an audio book.

Jamie's "voice" did not work for me at all and I doubt it will for any fan of Davina Porter's narrations of the main Outlander books or of Sam Heughan's television portrayal of Jamie Fraser. Mr. Holmes just did not capture Jamie's strength, character or that hint of a swagger. In fact, I cringed a bit every time Jamie spoke. He sounded more like a shy leprechaun.

I would recommend sticking to the printed book for "The Scottish Prisoner".

Loved the story hated the narrators

Of course the story was amazing, as usual. It gave so much more detail as to why Jamie and LJGs friendship is so strong, which I always wondered about.

I do kind of wish I would have read it myself instead of listening to the audio book. I did not like the narrators at all. Jamie’s was the worst. I hated his accent and his voice. Just no.

So many answers lead to more questions

This story fills in so many of the gaps in the Jamie - Lord John relationship. The Jacobite cause still simmers - this time in Ireland. We meet so many of the characters who will reappear in MOBY The Scottish Prisoner is a must read. My only complaint is that the narrator mixes up the Scottish accent and Irish accents which can be very annoying

Jamie and Lord John, what could be better?

While the double narration was confusing, it was good quality. The story was fantastic, a great filter to the main stories!
